'RHONJ' Star Jennifer Aydin Is Still Estranged From Her Mother

Jennifer Aydin is still not on speaking terms with her mother, Josephine Altinel.

After fans watched as Aydin became estranged with her mom due to Altinel's “hostile” relationship with her father, John, on the latest season of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey," Aydin offered an update on the drama between them.

“We’re not on speaking terms,” Aydin confirmed to Page Six this week. “The fighting between her and my dad was getting a little bit hostile and I had to intervene."

According to Aydin, her efforts to protect her father from her mother's often antagonistic behavior led her and her mother into a number of heated conversations and ultimately, the two women chose to take a break from their relationship. 

"She targeted me now as being his protector and it just — we said some ugly things to each other and it’s just, we’re taking some time apart,” she explained.

In late 2020, Aydin moved her father in with her and her family amid filming on the 11th season of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey."

In the months since Aydin moved her father into her home in an effort to end the fighting between him and her mom, she and her mother have been harboring  "a lot of anger” towards one another. However, despite the dark times they're currently in, Aydin said she's hopeful they can move forward.

“I’m just trying to say, like, he’s a 76-year-old man that is disabled, walks with the cane, has the beginnings of Parkinson’s disease,” she explained. “It’s not humane to just treat somebody so meanly."

"And I just couldn’t stand by and watch it anymore and she’s mad at me for taking his side,” Aydin continued. 

Aydin also said that she's gotten a lot of support from fans who've watched her family drama on "RHONJ."

“A lot of people relate to the story. I’ve had so many people like, you always hear about the man being verbally or emotionally abusing to the woman or even aggressive. But you don’t hear so much the woman being verbally abusive towards the man,” she noted.
