There is a huge difference between Courtney Stodden and Chrissy Teigen. The least of which is the 298,000 Instagram followers that Stodden has, opposed to Teigen’s 34.8-million-strong followers. 

The divide is similar on Twitter as well. Stodden has 162.2K followers, Teigen has 13.6 million. 

Of course, Stodden’s claim-to-fame was getting married to a man much older than her and she is now an Instagram model and singer. Teigen is a model who is married to R&B superstar John Legend. That said, when it comes to the two, it’s Teigen who’s looking a bit soot-covered.

Courtney Stodden, who identifies as non-binary, first caught the public eye when as a 16-year-old they appeared on the arm of 50-year-old Doug Hutchinson as his underage bride. Her parents consented to her marriage to him, despite Stodden’s father being younger than Hutchinson. 

Then the media abuse started, as the teen was slut-shamed and characterized as a gold digger. Some celebrities became involved too, and one of those biggest bullies was Chrissy Teigen.

It’s not as though Chrissy Teigen and Courtney Stodden ran around in the same circles. The only reason why Teigen seemed to have taken a strong dislike to Stodden is due to their marriage to Hutchinson.

Teigen sent DMs to Stodden telling her “I hate you” and “My Friday fantasy. you. dirt nap. mmmmmmm baby”. 

This kind of cyberbullying has taken years for Stodden to get over.  It wasn’t only Teigen who sent her abuse. In an interview with The Daily Beast, Stodden said, “Joy Behar had a field day with calling me a ‘slut.’ Courtney Love told me I was a ‘whore.'”

Teigen has apologized, but Stodden has yet to hear from other celebs who have abused her. Stodden is still going strong though, in blonde locks.

In a series of tweets, Chrissy Teigen seems to have taken full responsibility for her past actions, saying, “I am ashamed and completely embarrassed at my behavior but that is nothing compared to how I made Courtney feel….” 

The fans are split over the apology. 

There is support for Teigen, with one tweet reading, “The courage it takes to apologize says everything about you and who you are, and want to become! We are all imperfect souls!”

On the other hand, there is disillusionment, with a former fan writing, “You know, I actually liked you. I thought you were funny and chill & real. Boy was I wrong. 1) you somehow made this about you. 2) you had such vitriol and hate for a 16-year-old kid”

Stodden did mention the apology on both Twitter and Instagram, saying, “I accept her apology and forgive her.” 

However, Courtney claims to have never heard from Chrissy privately and she is blocked by Teigen on Twitter. Stodden went on to say, “it feels like a public attempt to save her partnerships with Target and other brands who are realizing her ‘wokeness’ is a broken record.”

Stodden’s supporter Candace Owens agrees, saying, “She is so fake she only apologized Bc u exposed her lol?”…
