Kevin Spacey's 'Substantial' Hollywood Return Will Not Include Those 'Who Rushed to Judgment'

Kevin Spacey is making his Hollywood comeback with only a select few.
The "House of Cards" actor suffered a major career downfall when allegations of sexual misconduct opened the door to a slew of legal issues.
Spacey, who was cleared of all charges in all cases, has a message for those who pronounced him guilty.
Kevin Spacey Talks About How Legal Issues Changed Him

In a rare move, the two-time Oscar winner dished on his legal controversies during a recent public appearance. Spacey attended the Italian Global Series Festival (IGSF) in Rimini, where he said on stage:
"These experiences have allowed me to stop, assess, reassess and listen, and be very grateful for the work I’m able to do both on screen and off screen."
The disgraced actor then became emotional, expressing gratitude to those who supported him amid his legal troubles.
"I’m filled with gratitude for those in my industry who stood by me, those individuals who were willing to wait for an outcome in the courts before they decided how they felt about me," Spacey shared, per Deadline.
The 65-year-old then promised to devote his "trust" to his supporters for the rest of his life.
The 'American Beauty' Star Holds No Grudges

As for those who turned their back on him during the challenging time, Spacey has no plan to take revenge.
He, however, has one rule when it comes to dealing with them. Without naming his critics, the New Jersey native told the interviewer:
"For those who rushed to judgment and decided I was guilty, and treated me accordingly, they have my forgiveness, but I am not seeking them out to collaborate."
Since making a return to the spotlight, Spacey hasn't shied away from speaking about his scandal. While accepting a lifetime achievement award at the Cannes Film Festival last month, he emphasized his new perspective.
Still maintaining his innocence, Spacey said he was not "angry" or "bitter" about the allegations, according to Variety. Instead, he was "more loving, more understanding and more forgiving than I ever have been in my life."
Support From Liam Neeson And Brian Cox

Among those who would have the actor's "trust" are actors Liam Neeson and Brian Cox. They were vocal supporters of Spacey amid his blacklisting from Hollywood.
In May 2024, following the release of the two-part bombshell documentary "Spacey Unmasked," Neeson, in partnership with other stars, publicly called for Spacey's return.
In the statement also signed by Sharon Stone, Stephen Fry, and others, the "Taken" actor described Spacey as "a good man and a man of character."
Praising his colleague's talent and sense of humor, Neeson urged, "Personally speaking, our industry needs him and misses him greatly."
Cox shared a similar sentiment about his "Iron Will" co-star. He shared that Spacey was ready for a comeback but was being stopped by forces in the industry.
"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone," the "Succession" actor challenged. "Maybe he got too out of hand, but I don’t think he should be punished endlessly for it. There should be a case of forgive and forget."
A Look At Kevin Spacey's Legal Troubles

Spacey's fall from grace began in 2017 when he was accused of sexual misconduct by actor Anthony Rapp, who claimed the older actor tried to "seduce" him when he was 14.
The bombshell accusation led to Spacey's firing from the Netflix hit drama, "House of Cards." He was also removed from the Ridley Scott film project "All the Money in the World."
The "Rent" actor later sued for assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. However, Spacey was found not liable for assault.
Unfortunately, that was just the start of his troubles, as Rapp's allegations opened the door to more accusations and lawsuits.
The actor faced an indecent assault and battery charge for allegedly groping TV anchor Heather Unruh’s son in Nantucket, Massachusetts. A civil lawsuit was also filed. The Unruh family dropped the case two years later, while prosecutors dropped the charges.
In May 2022, four charges of sexual assault were filed against Spacey in the U.K. He pleaded not guilty and was cleared of all charges in July 2023.
Inside Kevin Spacey's Childhood Abuse

Although the "Se7en" actor has his name legally cleared, his reputation remains tainted, especially with the release of "Spacey Unmasked."
The controversial documentary, which delved deep into the sexual assault allegations, sparked a dark confession from Spacey's brother.
As The Blast reported, Randy Spacey, who is estranged from the Golden Globe winner, spoke about the abuse they endured at the hands of their father. "My father blamed the world for all of his problems, and he was full of so much hatred," he recalled.
The estranged sibling further revealed that their father regularly hosted "Nazi" meetings. "My father's office used to have a big Nazi flag hanging up on the wall," he shared.
