One of the Kim Kardashian 2016 Paris robbers, Didier Dubreucq, has reportedly passed away shortly after being sentenced to seven years in prison over the kidnapping of the reality TV star.
According to reports, the 69-year-old had to be released due to poor health. All the other defendants, including ringleader Aomar Aït Khedache, avoided prison for similar reasons.
During the trial, Kim Kardashian gave an emotional testimony, describing her fear of being raped or killed.
Kim Kardashian Paris Robber, ‘Blue Eyes,’ Dies Of Lung Cancer After Guilty Verdict

"Grandpa robber," Dubreucq, who was also known by the nickname “Blue Eyes,” has died after a battle with lung cancer, French authorities confirmed on Thursday morning.
Dubreucq was one of several individuals tried in connection with the infamous 2016 armed robbery targeting Kim Kardashian in Paris.
In May, he was found guilty, along with six other men and one woman. He was sentenced to seven years in prison, with five years suspended, but was released due to the time he had already served in custody.
According to The U.S. Sun, he had been hospitalized during parts of the trial and was absent when the verdict was handed down on May 23.
Accused of being one of the two men who entered Kardashian’s hotel room, Dubreucq consistently denied any involvement, telling investigators, “There's a case of mistaken identity. Contrary to appearances in this case, I have nothing to do with it.”
Ultimately, due to their advanced age, fragile health, and lengthy pre-trial detention, all defendants in the case were allowed to walk free.
Kim Kardashian Feared She Would Be Killed During The Terrifying Incident

During the trial, Kardashian gave a harrowing testimony, recounting how two men broke into her hotel room, tied her up with zip ties, and held her at gunpoint.
The reality TV star told the court she genuinely feared she would be raped or killed during the traumatic ordeal.
The thieves made off with millions of dollars worth of jewellery, including her $4 million engagement ring from Kanye West.
Only one item, a necklace, was ever recovered, having been dropped by the suspects as they fled the scene on bicycles.
The Judge Spared The Convicted Gang Jail Time Due To Age And Health

Following the trial, Judge David De Pas ruled that imprisonment was not appropriate due to the advanced age and poor health of the convicted individuals, none of whom were deemed likely to reoffend.
“It would have been unjust to take you to prison this evening,” he stated, while acknowledging that the crime caused long-lasting trauma.
The judge added, “You have rebuilt your lives and taken steps to reintegrate.”
A spokesperson for the defense later explained, "Health and age factors and the fact that they have spent periods in prison already means that none will go back inside a cell.”
They further noted that "all have returned to their homes.’’
The Reality TV Star Delivered An Emotional Statement In Court: ‘This Is My Closure’

Following the court's ruling, Kardashian took the stand inside the courtroom to deliver an emotional statement.
She said, “Hi, I’m Kim Kardashian. I just want to thank everyone, especially the French authorities, for allowing me to be here today to testify and share my truth.”
The SKIMS founder continued: “This is my closure, this is me putting this hopefully to rest, to be able to see everyone, to be able to thank the French judicial system for figuring out this investigstion.”
Reflecting on the trauma she endured, she stated, “I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. I do hope and pray that everyone involved gets the help they need, rehabilitates, and never does this again.” She continued, “I genuinely would hope they feel regret, and it’s genuine. I genuinely appreciate their apology and their regrets."
Kardashian added, “I think that’s the only way to move forward. It doesn’t change what happened, but it means I can have a little peace not carrying that around.”
Kim Kardashian Breaks Down In Court As Paris Robbery Mastermind Offers Apology Letter

In one particularly emotional moment during the proceedings, Judge De Pas read aloud a letter addressed to Kardashian from Aomar Aït Khedache, the alleged mastermind behind the 2016 robbery.
In the letter, Khedache wrote: “Madame, [it was] after seeing you in a French TV show and seeing your emotion and realising what psychological harm I did to you, that I decided to write to you. Not with the aim of getting forgiveness . . . I want to tell you human to human how I regret my actions and how I was touched to see you cry.”
He added: “I am sorry for the pain I caused you, your husband, your children, and those who love you.”
As the judge read the letter, the mom of four broke down in tears, and through her emotions, she addressed Khedache directly in court.
“I do appreciate the letter for sure. I do appreciate it,” she said, per The U.S. Sun. “I forgive you for what had taken place. But it doesn’t change the emotion and the trauma and the way that my life had forever changed. But I do appreciate the letter, so thank you.”
In a handwritten reply, Khedache, who is both deaf and mute, expressed his gratitude, writing: “Your forgiveness is a sunshine that has enlightened me. I am forever grateful.”
