Tom Cruise had a bit of a freak out while filming "Mission Impossible 7" last year, unfortunately for him, it was recorded and shared with the world. Cruise is now doubling down and defending yelling at a handful of the production staff.

“I said what I said,” shared Cruise in an interview with Empire. “There was a lot at stake at that point ... But it wasn't my entire crew. I had the crew leave the set, and it was just select people.”

Tom Likes To Go By The Book

The freak out apparently occurred when the actor noticed that two crew members were not following social distance guidelines while on set, ultimately risking themselves and everyone around them. Cruise was recorded calling the crew “motherf---ers” and even going as far as to say “they will be f***ing gone” if they don’t follow protocol. Cruise didn’t stop here. He went on to say that he wanted this crew to be the “old standard” of filming in the middle of a pandemic so they can avoid being shut down.

The actor clearly feels like he did the right thing because he then bragged to Empire that his rant essentially worked stating that filming “never shut down again” and jokingly adding, “here we are, continuing to film.”

He continued to defend his rant, adding “All those emotions were going through my mind, and for the whole crew to know that we'd started rolling on a movie was just a huge relief ... It was very emotional.”

So, his emotions got the best of him then?

Being On Set Can Be Dangerous

He also reminded Empire that he does a lot of dangerous stunts and safety protocols of all kind play a factor in keeping him and everyone around them safe. “If the wind was too strong, it would blow me off the ramp,” he said of one of the more dangerous stunts he had to perform for this film. “The helicopter was a problem, because I didn't want to be hammering down that ramp at top speed and get hit by a stone. Or if I departed in a weird way, we didn't know what was going to happen with the bike.”

He continued, “I had about six seconds once I departed the ramp to pull the chute and I don't want to get tangled in the bike. If I do, that's not going to end well.” Because there was so much at stake, Cruise felt the need to have the “talk” with his crew.

He isn’t the first or last celebrity to have a breakdown on set. Christian Bale famously freaked out about a crew member walking into his shot while filming one of the "Dark Knight"films.
