After six years of marriage, stand-up comedian John Mulaney and wife Anna Marie Tendler have announced plans to divorce.

The news comes after the "Big Mouth" star spent 60 days in a rehab treatment facility, seeking treatment for drug and alcohol abuse.

“His fans know he’s struggled in the past with sobriety, he has talked about it openly,” a source revealed. “Unfortunately, he has struggled again during the pandemic.”

In a 2019 interview, Mulaney revealed that he began drinking when he was only 13-years-old.

“I drank for attention,” he revealed. “I was really outgoing, and then at 12, I wasn’t. I didn’t know how to act. And then I was drinking, and I was hilarious again.”

In a story with "Esquire," he admitted that his excessive drinking caused him to turn to drugs.

Although he shared that he never liked smoking pot, the entertainer confessed that he "loved" cocaine and experimenting with prescription drugs.

According to a spokesperson, “John will not have any further comment as he continues to focus on his recovery and getting back to work.”

Tendler, an artist and NYU Costume Studies master's candidate, revealed that she is "heartbroken that John has decided to end our marriage. I wish him support and success as he continues his recovery."

Mulaney, who often praised his wife during his stand-up routines, once captioned a happy photo, “Anna, you might as well be the Sea Org, because I’d sign a Billion Year Contract to be with you…Life would be so stupid without you."

It seems as though the pandemic has brought on more high-profile celebrity divorces in the past year, including the split between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
