Nicki Minaj has been very quiet on social media as she hadn't posted on Instagram since January and didn't leave any tweets since February. Many have since been wondering what Nicki could be up to in regards to music or other business venture projects. The social media hiatus ended on Monday though as she stunned social media and the industry by going on her accounts and posting two photos of herself. The caption left was simply "F R I D A Y."
Fans Believe A New Nicki Single Is Coming

Based on the short caption provided by Nicki, fans online believe that this is a huge hint that she will be putting out some sort of music on Friday. A complete project seems unlikely but a single is what many believe that they will get from Nicki after not putting out any singles in over a year. Prior to this announcement, Nicki has trending on social media frequently due to fans' desires for her to return and put out new music.
Nicki's Last Single Was 'Yikes' In 2020

Regarding Nicki's last solo single release, that was "Yikes," back in February 2020. That was met with a lot of positive reviews on social media as it ended up debuting at number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Many applauded Nicki's lyricism here and even believed that she subliminally dissed her ex-boyfriend, Meek Mill. Since then, fans have wondered when the next single would arrive but then, Nicki revealed that she was pregnant, and that obviously slowed the music releases from her down.
Nicki Appeared On Two Huge Collaborations In 2020

The other was on multi-platinum producer Mike Will Made-It's "What That Speed Bout?!" single, which also included NBA Youngboy, another artist who had a very dominant 2020. Now, fans are ready for Nicki to drop another hit again on her own.

With the potential release of a new single on Friday, another question that Nicki fans have is when a new album will be out. The last time this was done so by Nicki, it was in August 2018 with the release of her fourth studio album, "Queen." That project did very well as it debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and was led by smash hit singles such as "Chun-Li" and "Barbie Dreams."
