Dolores Catania Says An Engagement Wouldn't Define Her Romance With Dr. David Principe

Dolores Catania is getting more and more frustrated with her "Real Housewives of New Jersey" cast mates' inability to understand her relationship with her boyfriend, Dr. David Principe.

While appearing on last week's episode of the "RHONJ: After Show," Catania said that while her co-stars are super focused on the idea of the doctor proposing to her, she doesn't need a ring to define their relationship, or to make her happy.

"I don’t understand why they think this engagement ring is going to define not only my relationship but my life," Catania admitted.

"And I’m having a hard time having these girls understand that just because I live differently than the lives they’re living in a marriage doesn’t mean that I’m unhappy," Catania continued. 

According to Catania, she chose to drive separately to a group event at a winery during last week's show because she needed to "calm down."

"When I get mad, I’m an animal. Like, I’m f-cking nuts," she admitted. I get very angry and it takes me a little while to calm down."

"I didn’t find it to be that important to drive up to the winery with them after what had happened at that party because I’m still upset they talked about my business in front of strangers. It’s not something I would have done to them," Catania noted.

As fans of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" will recall, Catania's cast mates mentioned the ins and outs of her relationship with Dr. Principe and even took a poll in regard to the dynamic between them. Understandably, Catania was highly upset about this and felt she needed some space.

Catania went on to say that if she wants to move on from her relationship with Dr. Principe or begins to feel unfulfilled, she'll do so. 

"If I want to move on, David’s never done anything to make me not love him," she shared.

That said, Catania did resent the fact that Dr. Principe didn't propose to her when she wanted to settle down. 

"I resented the fact that we didn’t get engaged because it’s stupid on his part because i’m very good for him and eventually maybe David will lose me because of that but it will be his loss, not my loss," she noted.

"I was mad for him. As a friend to him, I wanted to shake him and say, ‘You had someone who was willing to make a life with you for a long time and you had a short span to do it.’ But I’m okay. And the girls just can’t figure that out,” she added.
