Move aside Avengers, the Eternals are here. And they, aided by the Celestials, will now save the Earth from the Deviants. Leading the tribe of Eternals is their mother, Ajak, and it’s none other than the gorgeous and absolutely ravishing Salma Hayek, who at 54, is ready to rock the MCU with plenty of fiery passion.
Due for release in November 2021, “The Eternals” also stars Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Gemma Chan, and Kit Harington among others and while Hayek has been sworn to secrecy, she left a few tidbits for the fans…
The Perfect Casting Coup

Salma Hayek first made the announcement of her joining “The Eternals” in July 2019, and she did it with trademark gusto, saying, “I’m so excited to join the Marvel family as Ajak, the mother of all Eternals. It used to be the father of all Eternals, but girls… this is OUR time!!!!”
An announcement and women empowerment rolled into one, “The Eternals” was slated for a 2020 release but has been pushed back by a year because of the pandemic.
Salma put it, “Ajak is very wise and very pulled together” and we say, she looks eternal, in any case…
Thrilled Because Of Chloé Zhao

Hayek also revealed that when she was approached for the movie, she was not allowed to read the script and that did scare her a bit.
Her agents were very excited because of the movie being a Marvel franchise but the lack of the script did make Salma nervous. What made her sign-on was the fact that the movie was being directed by Chloé Zhao, who just cinched Best Director 2020 for the movie “Nomadland” at the Oscars, the Golden Globes, and even the BAFTA.
And here is Salma, proud of all that Chloé has done…
The ‘Short’ Superhero

Salma Hayek also revealed that she has often been “bullied” in Hollywood because of her short stature. The curvy bombshell stands at about 5’2 and said that playing a superhero, costume and all, at 54 felt very empowering.
Said she, “It was empowering. It really moved me… They told me, ‘It’s never going to happen for you here.’ I am representing. It’s not because I’m putting on an outfit but we get the right to be superheroes today”.
Not bad for an “old lady”, she continued and especially since Hayek also revealed that Ajak was not sexy at all but she was definitely bossy…
Female Empowerment, And Some Hope

Salma also said, “I feel very honored to be a part of a movie that is going to allow people who never felt represented in superheroes, or in this case Eternals, represented because I am proud to have a diverse family.”
She also admitted that working with a stalwart like Angelina Jolie was equally empowering, as was the gender swap that MCU introduced.
And then she shared a three-minute video by Marvel.
It’s exciting. And yet, it’s emotional. For many, it was seeing Chadwick. For others, it was the hope of a pandemic-free world. As Marvel Studios put it, “See you at the movies”…
