Brenda Song is choosing love over drama following a bombshell social media rant from her ex-boyfriend Trace Cyrus.

The "Suite Life of Zack & Cody" alum took to Instagram this week to mark her anniversary with fiancé Macaulay Culkin, just days after Trace accused her of everything from faking cancer to staging an abortion.

In a heartfelt Instagram post shared Wednesday, Brenda Song seemingly sidestepped the controversy entirely, opting instead to spotlight her long-term relationship with Macaulay Culkin.

The couple, who got engaged in January 2022 and share two sons, Dakota, 4, and Carson, 2, celebrated eight years together.

“8 years and there is still no one who makes me laugh or smile like the way you do,” Song wrote alongside a sweet photo. “No one who makes me feel more seen, heard or loved… My partner in crime, my adventure partner, my best friend, my baby daddy, my favorite everything, thank you. To be loved by you is the greatest privilege. Happy anniversary. I love you.”

Culkin returned the sentiment with a playful series of beachside photos showing Song walking closer to the camera frame by frame.

“Happy anniversary, babe. Thank you for always coming towards me. You never run away,” he captioned the post, offering what some fans took as a subtle dig at the swirling chaos left behind. That chaos stems from a fiery series of Instagram posts made last week by Trace Cyrus, Miley Cyrus’ older brother and the son of Billy Ray Cyrus, who dated Song on and off from 2010 to 2017.

In his posts, the former Metro Station singer accused Song of a laundry list of shocking behavior during their time together, including faking multiple pregnancies, stealing thousands of dollars from him, and lying about having terminal breast cancer and a brain tumor.

“She faked an abortion with fake blood covering the bathroom floor,” Trace alleged, adding that his mother eventually confronted Song after catching onto her alleged web of lies. “She didn’t realize we were catching on… she showed up to my house with a bandage on her head claiming she just got out of surgery. She ripped it off exposing no surgery had been done.”

While Trace has offered no hard evidence to back up the extreme claims, he insisted the accusations were true and told his followers he wouldn’t be taking questions from the media.

“Why now? Because I felt like it,” he wrote, before encouraging fans to follow him quickly as he planned to make his account private by Friday.

Despite the drama, Song has remained silent on the specific allegations, choosing instead to focus on the positive. And many fans came to her defense, slamming Trace’s comments as vindictive and unnecessary.

“Leave her alone. She was just a kid in love for the first time,” one supporter wrote. “She’s grown up and created a wonderful life and family. No need to hash the past up. And, OMG what did she see in this creep?”

Another added, “She traded up, that’s for sure. She’s doing the right thing by not giving that addled person oxygen.”

Before the drama that’s recently taken social media by storm, Trace Cyrus and Brenda Song shared a highly publicized and often rocky romance that spanned several years.

Following a brief fling with Demi Lovato, Cyrus began dating fellow Disney Channel alum Brenda Song in 2010. The couple quickly went public and, by October 2011, they were engaged.

“I am very excited to say, last week I asked my girlfriend Brenda Song to marry me and she said YES! We are both very excited to be engaged!” the Metro Station frontman tweeted at the time.

But the engagement didn’t last. Less than a year later, Cyrus announced that the two had parted ways.

“Brenda and I have decided to go our separate ways,” he said in a statement in June 2012. “We split up a couple of months ago. We will continue to focus on our careers. I wish Brenda the best and much success in the future.”

Despite the split, the couple continued an on-and-off relationship for several more years before officially ending things.

In 2018, Cyrus released a song named after Brenda and took to Instagram to reflect on their time together. “Her and I have both moved on and I’m extremely happy for her,” he wrote. “She inspired me to write countless songs and was such an important part of my life. I will always cherish songs I have like this one to remind me of our crazy seven years together.”

Now, with the internet ablaze and Song seemingly refusing to bite, fans are praising her grace and her ability to move on.
