Days after making murder plot claims, R. Kelly suffered an accident behind bars.
The R&B singer was reportedly rushed to the hospital after an alleged overdose incident, and his lawyers are pointing fingers at the prison staff.
R. Kelly's latest hospitalization comes after his calls for President Donald Trump to include his name on his lists of prisoners to enjoy a presidential pardon.
R. Kelly's Legal Team Doubles Down On Murder Plot Claims

The singer's attorney shared that the prison staff, instructed to administer his medication, gave him an overdose with ill intentions. In a June 17 filing, R. Kelly's team claimed the act took place on June 12, while he was in solitary confinement.
During his time tucked away from the rest of the inmates, the performer reportedly got medications to treat his anxiety and sleep deprivation. However, a reported overdose of his anxiety and sleep medication pills landed him in the ER on Friday, June 13.
That is not all; USA TODAY also noted that his legal team insisted that their client was extracted from Duke University Hospital in North Carolina against the doctors' advice.
The singer, who was incarcerated in 2022 for racketeering and sex trafficking, is an inmate at the Federal Correctional Institute Facility in Butner, North Carolina.
The Singer's Rep Tagged His Solitary Confinement As Forceful

According to the lawyers, on June 10, R. Kelly went into solitary confinement, which the lawyers said was against his will after his team submitted an emergency motion to furlough him last week.
In that motion, his team explained that three Bureau of Prisons officials had made a plot with the intention of killing him through one of the other prisoners. And then, early on June 13, according to the filing, the embattled singer woke up feeling dizzy and faint.
He reportedly began getting black spots in his vision and collapsed on the ground after a fruitless attempt to stand up. Then, he crawled up to the door of the cell and subsequently lost consciousness.
Since he could not be assisted by onsite prison medical personnel, an ambulance reportedly took him to Duke University Hospital, where he spent two days in admission.
The 58-Year-Old Tried His Luck With A Donald Trump Pardon

The songwriter and his legal team have been busy lately, with plans to get him out of jail at the top of their agenda. Last week, The Blast shared that Kelly, through his lawyers, begged the president to spare his life by granting him a presidential pardon.
His attorney, Beau B. Brindley, emphasized the urgency of the request, hammering that his client’s life depends on the timeliness of the pardon.
Coupled with his accusation that a few prison officials were liaising to eliminate him, Kelly hoped the presidency would rescue him by either pardoning him or sending him to serve time in his house instead of the federal prison.
Brindley stressed that Trump was the only one who could truly free his client, and a quick intervention would salvage the delicate situation. He added that some parties were displeased by his emergency motion; thus, he was being punished.
The Singer's Other Attempt At Getting Out Of Prison

Last year, the R&B singer's legal team hit another strike in advocating for him to be completely absolved of his crimes. His legal team, headed by Jennifer Bonjean, claimed he deserved a release as he was jailed for crimes committed in the 90s.
Bonjean argued against punishing the singer based on the 2003 PROTECT Act for his possession of child pornography and inducing minors charges.
According to Bonjean, the law, which made the statute of limitations indefinite for child sex crimes, did not provide a clause for punishing crimes committed before 2003.
This opening in the law strengthened the singer and his team's resolve to pressure the judge for a dismissal of his convictions. Kelly was found guilty of six out of thirteen charges by a grand jury in 2022. He bagged three guilty verdicts for child pornography and another three for inducement counts.
R. Kelly Has Been At It With The Prison Officials Over His Private Information

Nearly two years ago, the singer identified three prison officials in a lawsuit, accusing them of leaking his private information to bloggers.
According to him, the three unnamed officials had conspired with the famous blogger Tasha K to report on his conduct and activities while in Chicago police custody in exchange for a monetary settlement from Tasha K.
He claimed the leaking began as far back as 2019, and it included them tapping his phone calls, visitor logs, email correspondence, and much more private information.
Kelly also accused the prison authorities and the United States government of negligence of duty, claiming they gave unauthorized access to his details.
He stated that Tasha K and her cohorts weaponized his information to fabricate stories against him and cause him emotional and psychological distress.
Will R. Kelly get his wish?
