Weslie Renae is keeping the memory of her late stepfather, Stephen "tWitch" Boss, close to her heart this Father's Day.

Boss, a beloved dancer, DJ, and entertainer, tragically died by suicide on December 13, 2022, at the age of 40. His death sent shockwaves through the entertainment world and left Allison Holker a single mother to Weslie, now 16, and her two younger children with Boss, Maddox, 8, and Zaia, 5.

In the time since, Holker has opened up about the "scary" hidden struggles Stephen Boss battled in silence, including childhood trauma and a concealed addiction.

Earlier this year, Weslie bravely addressed the ongoing criticism her family has faced in the aftermath of Boss's passing, particularly in response to the release of Holker's memoir, "This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light."

In an emotional Instagram Live on January 10, Weslie defended both her mother and her own connection to Boss.

Weslie spoke passionately about the depth of their relationship, calling tWitch her "dad" and emphasizing that, biological or not, he was the father figure who helped raise her for 13 years.

"He's the person I would go to about everything. He'd wake me up every morning. We'd get breakfast. He's the person I would see when he came home from work," she shared.

She also pushed back against the idea that her place in the grieving process was invalid.

"I see people saying that it's not my place because I'm not his biological daughter, but he never made me feel like anything besides his daughter," Weslie said. "That just speaks to who he was."

As The Blast previously reported, in a heartfelt interview on "CBS Mornings" that aired Tuesday, February 11, Boss' mother, Connie Boss Alexander, and his younger brother, Dre Rose, opened up about their own experiences with the beloved dancer, and offered a new perspective on the pain he may have been carrying.

In one particularly emotional moment, Dre revealed that his brother often felt "unheard" in key aspects of his life.

"So in my opinion, [from] our conversations that he had with me, he felt silenced. He couldn't get it out," he told Gayle King. When asked directly if tWitch felt silenced in his own home, Dre didn't hesitate, "Yes, often. Often. And he loved his wife, he loved his kids. He would definitely give them his last. But in any situation in which you can't have a conversation and get resolve, it becomes one-sided."

Dre also reflected on his brother's approach to life and the challenges he faced in private. "There's many conversations where there's no resolve," he said. "But he would always say to me, 'This is life. The lights are on.'"

Holker, who has spoken publicly about the heartbreak of losing her husband and the hidden struggles he battled, including substance abuse and childhood trauma, revealed in her book that she found drugs hidden in his closet after his death.

When King asked Dre about those revelations, he acknowledged the "possibility" that tWitch had been hiding personal demons.

"There are things that she knows that we didn't know," Dre said. "But know that there are things about him that she didn't know."

The interview sheds light on the complex and often unspoken emotional challenges tWitch may have faced before his tragic death by suicide in December 2022.

While Holker's memoir has been both praised and criticized for its deeply personal revelations, Dre and Connie's appearance on national television offers another layer of insight into the beloved entertainer's life, suggesting that even those closest to him were still uncovering parts of his story.
