“This is one of the harder things I've had to write, but I want to share it honestly,” he began. “Juliana and I have decided to end our relationship.”

Ellis made history during his season, but also made waves for the wrong reasons, being labeled by many viewers as the “worst 'Bachelor' ever” due to his behavior in the finale episode.

“We both gave this our best and poured a lot of love into each other,” Ellis continued, “but after a lot of deep conversations, we've come to the understanding that we're simply not the right fit long term.”

Though he reassured fans their connection was “real,” many fans aren’t buying the narrative.

Social media quickly lit up with speculation, with several users suggesting that Grant never had genuine intentions of marrying Juliana.

One fan claimed, “Grant never had plans on marrying Juliana. Not with more qualified candidates on the table still. Grant got his fun three months in and now he wants to play with a new toy.”

Another echoed the sentiment, writing, “He was not a genuine 'Bachelor.' He never planned to marry her. I’ve watched every single season of this show and saw this coming. He was just on the show for clout.”

Fans Say 'The Bachelor' Needs To Change Because It 'Doesn’t Work'

Others questioned the entire structure of the show itself, pointing out how many relationships fizzle out shortly after the cameras stop rolling.

“With how many of these relationships and engagements end before marriage, I wish they would get rid of the whole ‘There will be an engagement at the end of this’ format when it’s not been working,” one viewer commented. “Just make it where the 'Bachelor' or 'Bachelorette' picks someone to date.”

The overall reaction was one of disappointment but not surprise. Comments like “That’s no surprise,” “Show doesn’t work,” “Dude’s a player,” and “No matter who he picked, it would have ended with a breakup” summed up the growing fatigue Bachelor Nation is feeling about the franchise's ever-shrinking success rate.

Despite the backlash, Ellis insisted the breakup was amicable.

“What we had was meaningful. The connection on the show was real, and so was the effort we made to continue once the cameras stopped rolling,” he wrote. “There’s no negativity here. No resentment. Just two people who care about each other and want the best for one another moving forward.”

He concluded the post with a message of gratitude, “Thank you to everyone who supported us and believed in our journey. This chapter is closing, but we're both walking away with love and respect in our hearts.”

Pasquarosa also addressed the split in her own words on Instagram.

“It’s a gift to find someone who sees the world in a way that resonates with you, while also encouraging you to grow. I’ve been grateful to share that experience with Grant,” she began, before acknowledging the end of their engagement.

“Marriage is a commitment, and it’s one we both still believe in deeply. After a lot of honest conversations and reflection, we’ve come to the decision that this chapter of our lives is meant to continue on separate paths,” she continued. “We shared something meaningful, navigating a unique journey side by side, learning, growing, and showing up for each other the best we knew how."

“And while this isn’t the ending we once imagined, it’s one filled with mutual respect, care, and hope for what’s ahead,” she added.

Whether fans believe that or not, it’s clear this breakup has only deepened the growing speculation around "The Bachelor" franchise and the motives of those who sign up for it.
