Dua Lipa Praised For Her 'Mindset' After Honest Confession About Complexities Of Motherhood

Dua Lipa is opening up about her desire to become a mother someday, but not without being candid about the sacrifice it requires.

The British singer, who got engaged to actor Callum Turner last year, has fans counting down until wedding bells ring.

However, for Lipa, there is no rush to start a family, and many think her reason is valid.

The "New Rules" singer gave fans a rare glimpse into her personal life as the cover face for the July 2025 issue of British Vogue.

Clearing the air about whether kids are in the near future for her and the English actor, Lipa affirmatively answered, "I’d love to have kids one day." However, the timing of when to become a mother is what keeps the Grammy winner up at night.

"But it’s like the constant question of when would there ever be a good time, how it would fit in with my job, and how it would work if I went on tour, and how much time out I’d have to take."

Despite these valid concerns, the Albanian native still holds out hope for the milestone, saying having kids will "happen when it happens." However, she hopes to be intentional going into motherhood.

"I love kids, but I think there’s so much more to raising a child than just loving children," Lipa explained to the publication.

Lipa's candid response resonated with fans online, who praised her for understanding how her hectic career and motherhood won't blend seamlessly.

"I love her mindset," wrote one user on X. "Having children is a full commitment, which is very hard to do with a career like hers."

A similar comment read, "Love when people acknowledge that having kids is an enormous amount of work and time, esp. in certain careers."

Other fans interpreted Lipa's remark as a message about her retirement. "Basically, she's telling y'all she might retire if she's having a kid," this fan theorized.

A fourth user penned, "It's lovely to see Dua Lipa sharing her thoughts on the topic of having children. I'm sure many people can relate to the complexities of balancing personal aspirations with the demands of a career and family."

Luckily, the dream of welcoming a mini-Dua Lipa doesn't seem too far, according to a close pal. In the conversation with British Vogue, the friend predicted ten years down the line.

"I can imagine her with a little farm shop with kids and 12 dogs," she said.

Elsewhere in the interview, the 29-year-old dished on her love life. While not giving an exact timeline, Lipa recalled her first meeting with Turner, which took place at a restaurant.

However, before then, they had many "Sliding Doors moments," where they almost crossed paths due to having many friends in common. It wasn't until their second official meeting that sparks began to fly.

According to the seven-time BRIT Award winner, she was in LA having dinner with her friend when the actor showed up again.  "Oh, it’s that really hot guy from The River Cafe," she recalled thinking.

They soon discovered they were reading the same book, which kick-started the start of forever. When asked if she felt they were "destined to be together? " Lipa gushed, "One thousand per cent."

Barely a year after debuting their romance, Lipa and the "Masters of Air" actor sparked engagement rumors. Late last year, eagle-eyed fans noticed a stunning diamond ring on her finger in an Instagram post.

However, it wasn't until now that the award-winning songwriter confirmed Turner popped the big question. "Yeah, we’re engaged. It's very exciting," she detailed to the publication.

She revealed that the British actor sought the help of her best friends and her sister to come up with the perfect engagement ring.

"I'm obsessed with it. It's so me," Lipa proudly declared. "It's nice to know the person that you’re going to spend the rest of your life with knows you very well."

As for when the lovers will walk down the aisle, that won't happen anytime soon. Lipa revealed that their busy schedules haven't made planning feasible.

"I want to finish my tour, Callum’s shooting, so we’re just enjoying this period," she shared. The "IDGAF" artist confessed she hasn't always been wedding conscious. She said she never understood "the weight" of getting engaged.

However, all that changed with Turner. "This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don't know, be best friends forever—it's a really special feeling," Lipa gushed.
