The assistant secretary for the Department of Homeland Security's Public Affairs is not letting Kim Kardashian's stance against ICE stand.
Tricia McLaughlin has been vocal about her support for the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement while condemning the ongoing Los Angeles protests against ICE's mass deportations. She turned her sights on the reality TV star following her emotional plea for a better way.
Although Kim Kardashian stressed that she supported ICE's fight against dangerous immigrants, the message flew right over Tricia McLaughlin's head. The DHS official has also attacked Governor Gavin Newsom for failing to control the demonstrations and forcing Donald Trump to step in.

McLaughlin penned her arguments against Kim on X, sharing pictures of four alleged criminals that ICE picked up within the last 72 hours. "Which one of these convicted child molesters, murderers, drug traffickers, and rapists would you like to stay in the county?" she sarcastically asked the entertainer.
The DHS official stressed that the men displayed in her post were part of a larger pile, implying that ICE was doing the country a favor by ridding it of dangerous immigrants. However, what McLaughlin failed to realize was that Kim never disputed the organization's work in protecting citizens.
The Blast covered the lengthy statement Kim recently shared on her Instagram Stories, reporting that she started by acknowledging that ICE's work removing violent criminals and keeping the country safe was "great."
However, she noted it was a different story when it involved peaceful people who have contributed significantly to the country's growth.

Kim stressed that "hardworking people" were "being ripped from their families in inhumane ways," imploring people to speak up against this injustice and do the right thing. She reflected on her childhood in L.A., claiming she grew up watching the positive impacts immigrants had on the city.
The TV personality noted that it was important not to be divided by political beliefs, especially when "it's clear that our communities thrive because of the contributions of immigrants."
She further tried to change people's perceptions of immigrants, describing them as "neighbors, friends, classmates, coworkers, and family" needing support.
Although Kim did not mention Trump directly, her words seemed addressed to the president as she pleaded for a peaceful resolution. "We can't turn a blind eye when fear and injustice keep people from living their lives freely and safely. There HAS to be a BETTER way," she declared.

Kim wasn't the only person to face McLaughlin's criticism, as the DHS official attacked Governor Newsom during an interview with CNN. When asked about Trump's use of the National Guard and Marines to fight against the L.A. protests, she defended the president while playing the governor for the dire situation.
She implied Trump was right to mobilize the National Guard and the military to de-escalate the demonstrations because protesters were increasingly violent.
McLaughlin claimed law enforcers were attacked with Molotov cocktails and stones while public property was being destroyed and "defaced." In a video shared on X, she argued:
"So, for them to say that they have this under control is just absolutely false. But they've been saying that since the beginning. Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass have been saying that this is mostly peaceful when Americans have eyes and ears, and they can see for themselves that these have not been peaceful protests."
California's Governor Accused The POTUS Of Destroying Democracy

While McLaughlin claimed Trump had shown outstanding leadership by mobilizing forces to keep L.A. communities safe, Newsom shared a different story. The New York Times reported that he addressed the president's use of the military to suppress the protests on Tuesday, June 10.
He implored the public to rise against Trump, claiming his actions were against democracy and the start of something more dangerous. "Trump is pulling a military dragnet all across Los Angeles. Well beyond his stated intent to just go after violent and serious criminals," Newsom said.
"His agents are arresting dishwashers, gardeners, day laborers, and seamstresses," the governor lamented. Newsom's comments came a day after he sued Trump for mobilizing the military. He argued that the president's actions were "an unlawful commandeering of state power."
Donald Trump Accused Of Being A Dictator

Following his lawsuit, Newsom filed an emergency motion on Tuesday, begging the court to intercede and stop Trump from using the military. He asked that these armed forces be prevented from patrolling city streets or working with immigration agents.
He doubled down on Trump's use of the military being the wrong call in his speech on Tuesday, accusing the POTUS of being a dictator. "Authoritarian regimes begin by targeting people who are least able to defend themselves," Newsom claimed.
The clash between high-profile figures like Newsom and Kim against Trump comes ten years after the Skims founder began working with the president to fix the justice system.
ABC News reported that Kim first met Trump in 2018 to secure the freedom of Alice Marie Johnson. The former convict served 21 years for a nonviolent drug offense.
