Brooke Shields appears to have changed her mind about crossing Meghan Markle.
The actress, famously known for rising to fame at a young age, subtly took back her criticisms of the Duchess of Sussex. She initially reflected on her encounter with the former working royal on her podcast, but the episode has since vanished from her page.
While it seems Brooke Shields has done a complete 180, she is just part of a long list of people to call out Meghan Markle. A popular celebrity commentator recently slammed the former actress, labeling her an opportunist who tried to capitalize on Dolly Parton's fame.
Brooke Shields Scraps Recollection About Her Experience With Meghan Markle

Shields subtly took back her comments about Meghan a week after addressing her encounter with the Duchess on an episode of her podcast. The show was released early this month, but tracing the episode in question results in a "page not found" message, according to reports.
The episode before it vanished captured Shields recalling her experience with Meghan in a conversation with King Charles' goddaughter India Hicks.
The "Suddenly Susan" actress met the former senior royal on a SXSW panel in March 2024 titled "Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen."
Shields implied Meghan had ruined the mood by telling the panel about the time she wrote a letter to support gender equality at age 11. PEOPLE noted she told Hicks that the Duchess repeatedly emphasized that she was 11 when she started advocating for women's rights, saying:
"She starts telling a story about how when she was 11 – and she keeps saying, 'Well, when I was 11, I saw this commercial, and they were talking about how washing dishes was for women. And she said, 'I didn't think only women wash dishes. It wasn't fair. So I wrote to the company.'"
The Actress Tried To Lighten The Tense Atmosphere The Duchess Had Created

Shields claimed Meghan went on and on about how her letter influenced the company to change their ad, noting she did not believe it was the proper conversation for the panel. "I was like, they're not going to want to sit here for 45 minutes and listen to anybody be precious or serious," she recalled.
On that note, Shields tried to lighten the serious atmosphere Meghan had allegedly created with her story by comparing their lives. She stressed that she wasn't trying to be disrespectful or rude, but she believed the audience could use a laugh.
The entertainer referenced her infamous role in 1978's "Pretty Baby," where she had nude scenes as a child. "I just want to give everybody here a context as to how we're different. When I was 11, I was playing a prostitute," Shields recalled telling the crowd, claiming her joke broke the ice and everyone felt "more relaxed."
Dolly Parton's Team Allegedly Refused To Work With Meghan

While Shields appears to have taken back her comments, the same could not be said for popular celebrity commentator Kinsey Schofield. The Blast reported that she appeared on an episode of "The Nerve with Maureen Callahan" to drop scathing allegations against Meghan.
Schofield claimed that several A-listers turned down offers to work with the Duchess of Sussex, including Taylor Swift and Beyoncé. The list also featured country icon Dolly Parton, who the media personality claimed wanted no part in her "With Love, Meghan" show.
"Her team was livid because, no, they don't want to risk Dolly's epic Q score [and] her popularity by associating with Meghan Markle. And they knew that this ask was just to give Megan Markle credibility in this lifestyle space, a space that Dolly does have a lot of credibility in," Schofield claimed.
The Duchess Was Slammed As A 'Fake Royal'

Schofield doubled down on Parton's team avoiding Meghan because they believed she only wanted to exploit the singer's "star power." The podcast host, Callahan, echoed similar sentiments about the media personality, claiming she wasn't authentic.
Callahan described the combination of Parton and Meghan as a "spontaneous combustion of good versus evil" and labeled the Duchess a "fake royal."
She stressed that it would ruin the country singer's image to be associated with someone like Meghan and pretending to be pals with her while "making some fake food."
Esther Krakue, a British media personality, also slammed Meghan's Netflix series as boring, claiming the streaming giant made a business risk teaming up with her and Prince Harry.
Krakue noted that the former working royal would gain more traction by revealing her relationship secrets; however, she believed she would never take that route, out of fear.
Meghan Markle Is Unbothered By U.K. Criticism Of Her Twerking Video

Besides sparking criticism for her business or women's advocacy, The Blast reported that Meghan faced backlash in the UK for her twerking video. She recently shared a throwback clip of herself dancing in the hospital before giving birth to her daughter, Lilibet.
While the video was a hit with US fans, British critics labeled her actions "cringeworthy." Unfortunately for them, Meghan could not be bothered by their hate, with sources close to her claiming she was "pleased" with the post.
"She and her team count it [the video] as a 'win,' which can only boost sales," the insider shared, noting the video generated positive reactions in the US. The love she received overshadowed the hate she got in the UK, allowing Meghan to shrug it off easily.
Could the support Meghan Markle received for her twerking video have influenced Brooke Shields' decision to take down her podcast episode?
