Donald Trump's efforts to shut down the ongoing protests in Los Angeles continue to incite media outrage.

The President of the United States has repeatedly faced backlash since his second regime began. However, he has managed to turn the public and several celebrities against him in a matter of days over the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids.

While protesters cry against what they believe to be injustice and attempt to change the politician's mind, Donald Trump, on the other hand, is flaunting the full extent of his power. The POTUS labeled his critics "insurrectionists" and has reportedly mobilized the military to stop the demonstrations from progressing.

According to new reports, trained soldiers from the U.S. Marines are heading to Los Angeles to join California's National Guard in suppressing protesters. Their mobilization on Trump's orders comes after 2,000 National Guard troops started fighting against the demonstrations on Sunday, June 8.

The Marines' involvement in the protests stemmed from Trump's comments to reporters on Monday, June 9.

He labeled the L.A. protesters "insurrectionists," with his choice of words potentially allowing him to invoke the Insurrection Act. This means the president could use the Marines to do his bidding, even if that means fighting against unarmed citizens.

Two defense officials claimed that the Marines would only move once Trump invoked the Insurrection Act, with additional reports indicating that soldiers would come from Twentynine Palms in the California desert and 500 more from Camp Pendleton, according to PEOPLE.

However, the U.S. Northern Command claimed the Marines would only protect federal property and personnel, including ICE agents.

Although reports noted the Marines would not perform law enforcement duties in the protests, a viral video on X begged to differ. The clip captured soldiers preparing to defend against protesters, holding riot shields and training to stop anyone from crossing their barricade.

"President Donald Trump and the U.S. military is now preparing to deploy nearly 700 Marines, a full battalion, to Los Angeles, California, as additional National Guard troops will arrive to help contain the escalating out of control riots," the post's caption claimed.

The statement sparked outrage against the politician, with many agreeing the Marines should never be involved. "Lmao, this is cringe and dramatic all for unarmed protestors," someone declared.

Another critic echoed similar sentiments, noting, "This is gonna get uglier than it already has," while a third labeled the situation a "full-blown apocalypse."

While critics slammed Trump for abusing his power with the Marines' involvement, others applauded the president for standing up for business.

Someone claimed 10,000 marines should have been sent instead to completely shut down the protests, while another agreed that Trump should do whatever was necessary.

"Now, this is what we need. Let's get the criminals off the street!" a Trump supporter declared. An X user echoed similar sentiments, noting they voted for this outcome. The love for Trump continued, with more people cheering him on and imploring him to get illegal immigrants out of the country.

While some stood by Trump's side, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow argued that the politician had no clue what he was doing. In an interview shared on YouTube, the political commentator claimed he was "absolutely panicking" over the cries against him.

She added that his decision to deploy the National Guard in Los Angeles proved he was in over his head.

Rachel Maddow Slams The Politician As 'Very Boring'

Maddow's shots at Trump continued, with the TV personality claiming his reaction to the protests was "very boring." She argued that he could have appeared bold, but instead "decided to throw out all the rules," adding:

"It's like, it's all on the table. We know exactly what he's doing. We know exactly what his intentions are. He’s blonde Berlusconi. He's just trying to do the same thing all the other strongmen and would-be dictators do."

The political commentator noted she was more interested in how the public would react to Trump's actions and if they would allow the president to get away with it. "We're seeing a really interesting test of that right now, all over the country, especially this week," Maddow chimed.

While protesters took to the streets, stars like Chrissy Teigen used their platform to criticize the president. The Blast reported that she implored her followers to join an upcoming protest on June 14, stressing that Trump was not a king and should not be allowed to act like one.

Teigen claimed he was trying to throw himself a "$45 million birthday party" with a big military parade by claiming it was to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States Army.

She wasn't alone in her criticism as rapper Doechii used her BET Awards debut to address the L.A. protests and Trump's reaction. During her acceptance speech for Best Female Hip Hop Artist on Monday night, Doechii argued:

"Trump is using military forces to stop a protest. And I want y'all to consider what kind of government it appears to be when every time we exercise our democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us. What type of government is that?"

Will Donald Trump call off the Marines, or is this the beginning of a nasty storm in Los Angeles?
