Olympic Gold Medalist and TV personality Ryan Lochte and his estranged wife, Kayla Reid, were reportedly facing significant financial struggles even before the news of their divorce became public.
Ryan Lochte And His Soon-To-Be Ex-Wife Are Nearly $300,000 In Debt

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Lochte, 40, and his soon-to-be ex-wife, Reid, 33, have more than just their divorce to be concerned with.
Per the outlet, the pair has accumulated over $270,000 worth of debt and allegedly owes tens of thousands of dollars to various lenders.
Part of their debt includes a $99,696.09 balance with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for the years 2021 and 2022.
Additionally, the local homeowners association in Gainesville, Florida, where Lochte and Reid lived together with their three children, Caiden, Liv, and Georgia, filed a $2,231.76 lien on their home in December 2024 for several "unpaid" fees, including "special assessments, late fees, costs of collection [and] attorney's fees."
Ryan Lochte And His Partner Face Even More Financial Trouble

A nonprofit organization, Shands Teaching Hospital and Clinic, also filed a lien for the amount of $127,977.73, which includes the unpaid bills the Olympian accrued while reportedly spending two days receiving treatment in a Florida medical facility.
It doesn't stop there, though. The same medical facility is also seeking an additional $39,720.15 for treatment the swimmer reportedly received in February 2024.
Reid Filed For Divorce From Ryan Lochte In March 2025 After Seven Years Of Marriage And Three Children

Lochte's financial woes made headlines just days after Reid announced that she filed for divorce from her husband after seven years of marriage.
The Florida-based real estate agent opened up about the difficult decision in a lengthy Instagram post, where she received an outpouring of support from people in the comments, admitting the decision to end her marriage was one of the most challenging of her life.
"Earlier this year, I made the hard decision to end my marriage after deep prayer and reflection," Reid told her nearly 400,000 followers. "I hold marriage in the highest regard, so this has been one of the most painful, revealing, and challenging seasons of my life. I've been hesitant to share until I could do so from a place of healing — not from fresh, open wounds."
She continued, "Sometimes we face trials we didn't choose or see coming. And in those moments, we're forced to make the hardest decisions to protect our peace, our children, and our future. I've come to the understanding that staying isn't always the most loving decision someone can make. For me, leaving was an act of love — for those around me and for myself."
Lochte Believes Divorce Is The Right Step For Him And His Family

In her statement, Reid assured her followers that despite the divorce, her faith in God remains strong, and she intends to give herself grace during this challenging transitional period.
Lochte, meanwhile, opened up about his and Reid's pending divorce, too, stating that, as a couple, they faced many challenges in 2024; however, he was "grateful for the life Kayla and I] have built together and especially for the love we share for our three children."
He continued, "Although this decision hasn't been easy, I believe it's the right step toward peace and well-being for us both. I remain committed to healing, growth, and co-parenting with care and respect as we move forward separately."
Lochte finished his post by thanking his supporters for their love, adding, "It truly means a lot as we begin this new chapter."

Days after their initial announcement, Lochte interacted with his Instagram followers again when he posted a video, thanking them for supporting him during a pivotal time in his life.
"Just wanna say thank you to everyone that wrote a message, reached out to me," Lochte said in the clip. "Just open arms. It means a lot to me. Yesterday was a rough day for me, but, like always in life, you’ve got to put one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward."
Lochte continued, "And that's what I'm doing. To my second family that sent me this beautiful card, and a basket full of candy that now my son is eating."
"Thank you guys, I love you guys," he finished.
