Gypsy Rose Blanchard is looking back at an event that changed the course of her life, the death of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.

The media personality rose to fame due to the controversial circumstances of her childhood. Her late mother convinced her that she was gravely ill in a case of medical abuse, famously known as Münchausen Syndrome by Proxy. In a bid to be free of her mother's abusive hold, Gypsy planned with a boyfriend to have Dee Dee killed in 2015.

Ten years after the headline-making murder, Gypsy, who is now a mother, believes her daughter will "break every cycle."

In a June 9 Instagram post, Gypsy Rose reminisced on the first time she got a sonogram of her daughter, Aurora. However, the day wasn't just all about that milestone.

The upload featured a heartwarming picture of her and her ex-fiancé, Ken Urker, holding sonogram images at the hospital. The proud parents looked thrilled. "ONE day, TWO meanings," Gypsy wrote in the accompanying caption. "One year ago, we saw Aurora for the first time in this sonogram, and my heart has never been the same."

The doting matriarch described her six-month-old as her "light," "joy," and "greatest blessing." However, the wonderful day also coincides with the tenth death anniversary of Dee Dee.

"But today also marks 10 years since the death of my mother, a woman known not for love but for the abuse inflicted on me," Gypsy reflected. She got candid, admitting the trauma resulted in "tragic choices, consequences, and years we both can never get back."

The 33-year-old is referring to the eight years she spent behind bars for the second-degree murder of her mom. Although initially given a ten-year sentence, Gypsy got paroled in December 2023.

The Lifetime Star Takes Responsibility For Her Actions

Recognizing the pain she endured, Gypsy declared that she would never pretend her mother was "a good person." However, she would also not see herself as "perfect" despite being a victim. Instead, she wants to start a new chapter with her daughter, Aurora.

She opened up about how the toddler "represents a new beginning" and "a chance to break every cycle." For the Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up star, Aurora gives her the opportunity to raise someone with "love, truth, and freedom."

Gypsy hopes to provide her little one with a life better than her own. Concluding the emotional post, the media personality penned:

“I may carry the past, but she carries my future. And I pray that who she becomes will be greater than who I was, and greater than the woman who came before me.”

Gypsy Believes Her Late Mom Would Forgive Her

While Gypsy might have committed a grave crime in the eyes of many for conspiring to kill her mom, she believes Dee Dee won't see it that way.

As The Blast previously reported, Gypsy, in her 2024 memoir, expressed the belief that her mom would forgive her for her evil actions. Why does she think so? Well, Dee Dee's death is the same day as Aurora's first sonogram, she explained in the book's epilogue.

"I like to think that my mother is telling me that she wants me to move on with my life, that she forgives me," she wrote in "My Time To Stand."

Gypsy explained that the sentimental coincidence helped change her perspective. "Maybe now, with my freedom, we can both be released from our purgatories. Maybe now she can be free too," she shared.

Expressing a fondness for the late matriarch, she described them as "two sides of the same penny."

Is Gypsy Rose Blanchard Having Relationship Problems?

The emotional post comes amid Gypsy's decision to be honest about her relationship with Urker.

In a March 2025 interview, the lovebirds discussed how their relationship has since evolved after welcoming their first child together, admitting they relied on couples therapy.

"I like it because it gives an unbiased opinion," the former convict said of seeking professional help. She expressed disapproval at seeking family or friends' opinions for relationship issues. Instead, Gypsy prefers a neutral third party.

"They can see my side, they can see his side, and give us an honest opinion about where we should go and how we could improve," she stated.

Ken Urker Called Out For His Red Flags

Amid Gypsy's revelation of couples therapy, fans noticed disturbing behavior from Urker in an episode of "Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup."

In the March episode, per The Blast, the pair visited a restaurant after a therapy session to prepare for the birth of their daughter. During the night out, eagle-eyed viewers noticed Urker tried to force Gypsy to eat a meal she didn't want. In addition, he mocked her in front of the waiter.

It didn't take long for fans to label him a "big red flag," pointing out his manipulative patterns.
