Although Jones was a first-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, the former cornerback's career was marred by numerous controversies.

Jones was suspended from the league twice during his career — the first was for the entire season in 2007, and the second was for part of the 2008 season due to his off-the-field conduct.

He returned to the league in 2010 after being acquired by the Cincinnati Bengals, where he spent eight seasons before signing with the Denver Broncos in 2018.

Jones retired from the NFL in 2019.

Aside from Jones, several other current and former NFL players have also recently made headlines.

In April 2025, Shannon Sharpe announced he was stepping down from the ESPN show "First Take" after being sued by a woman for allegedly raping her throughout their relationship from 2023 to 2025.

The Baltimore Ravens also dealt with their own scandal after the most recent season ended, following allegations from 16 massage therapists that Justin Tucker, the NFL team's former standout kicker, displayed egregious behavior, such as showing his erect penis, during body sessions from 2012 to 2016.

"Sometimes football decisions are incredibly difficult, and this is one of those instances. Considering our current roster, we have made the tough decision to release Justin Tucker," a Ravens official stated in May 2025.

"Justin created many significant and unforgettable moments in Ravens history," their statement continued. "His reliability, focus, drive, resilience, and extraordinary talent made him one of the league's best kickers for over a decade. We are grateful for Justin's many contributions while playing for the Ravens. We sincerely wish him and his family the very best in this next chapter of their lives."
