Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi just had the most emotional moment of her "Jersey Shore" journey.
On the latest episode of "Jersey Shore: Family Vacation," the 37-year-old reality star spoke to her birth mother for the very first time, uncovering the heartbreaking truth behind why she was placed for adoption as an infant.
Snooki, who was adopted from Chile by an Italian-American family at just six months old, has long wondered about her origin story, and on Thursday's episode, she finally got some answers.
Snooki Breaks Down As She Asks Birth Mom Why She Was Put Up For Adoption

Joined by longtime bestie and castmate Jenni "JWoww" Farley for support, Snooki initiated the emotional conversation via video chat with the help of a translator. "For 36 years, I've been thinking about this question," Snooki said in a confessional. "And now the answer is going to pop up any second. This is insane."
And then that moment finally came. "Why was I put up for adoption?" Snooki asked, shaking.
"That's a heavy question," JWoww noted as they waited for a response.
Through the translator, her birth mother revealed that when she found out she was pregnant, Snooki's biological father disappeared. With no support system and limited options, she made the painful decision to place her daughter for adoption.
"She didn't have any support at that moment, so that was the only option she had," the translator shared. "Even though it was painful, she had to let you go."
Comforting Her Tearful Birth Mom During Their First Call

Emotions ran high as Snooki's birth mother tearfully apologized during their first conversation. Through a translator, she expressed deep remorse, saying, "I'm sorry for putting you in that situation, and that you were adopted."
The voice on the other end of the phone trembled as she admitted it had been a "very difficult time" in her life when she made the decision to place Snooki for adoption. The translator added, "She never forgot about you."
Moved by the moment, Snooki gently reassured her birth mom, asking the translator to tell her in Spanish, "Don't cry, I have a beautiful life." She shared that she was adopted by "loving parents," raised in New York, and "spoiled" growing up.
In a reflective confessional, the "Jersey Shore" star looked back on her life with gratitude. "Obviously, I wouldn't even be here if she didn't put me up for adoption," she said. "I have amazing parents. I had a great childhood. And then meeting my roommates… and then meeting Jionni. And then having my kids."

The conversation shifted to the present as Snooki shared that she's now a mom of three, Lorenzo, 11, Giovanna, 10, and Angelo, 6, with husband Jionni LaValle. The couple married in 2014.
Her birth mother was visibly moved, saying she was "happy to know you are a family now" and that she was "really happy she talked to you… and she loves you."
After the call, Snooki reflected on the surreal experience. "I'm happy… but she's still a stranger to me," she said. When JWoww asked if she planned to meet her birth mother in person, Snooki admitted she wasn't sure.
"I'm just so content with my life and who my parents are," she said. "I don't know where to go from here. My emotions are everywhere."
Opening Up About Asking Her Dad Why She Was Adopted

In the past, Snooki shared how she once turned to her adoptive parents for answers about her past.
"Eventually, when I was 21 or 22, I got my dad drunk and was like, 'Dad, can you just tell me what went on? Why was I up for adoption?'" she recalled.
According to what she was told, her birth parents already had other children and simply couldn't afford to raise another. The reality star became emotional as she expressed her gratitude for their sacrifice.
"I can't even imagine putting up a child for adoption to give them a better life," she said. "That's so amazing for them… thank you for that."

This isn't the first time Snooki has opened up about her adoption journey.
During a 2020 appearance on "Kocktails With Khloé," the mom-of-three revealed that she had begun digging into her roots and was shocked by what she discovered.
"I had like 10 other brothers and sisters," she told host Khloé Kardashian, adding that she believed her birth family placed her for adoption due to financial hardship. "I guess they couldn't afford me," she said candidly.
At the time, Snooki shared that she hadn't yet met her biological siblings but was "definitely open" to the idea, expressing a willingness to travel to meet her extended birth family when the time felt right.
