Kelly Clarkson may be stepping away from her hit talk show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” but the decision isn’t coming easily, and it isn't about fame or ratings.
According to insiders, the singer is absolutely terrified about what her exit could mean for the dozens of loyal staffers who have stood by her side.
With jobs on the line and emotions running high, Clarkson’s choice to walk away is turning into a heartbreaking dilemma filled with guilt, fear, and tough goodbyes.
Why Kelly Clarkson Is Terrified About Leaving

Clarkson might be saying goodbye to her years-long show after her NBC contract ends in 2026.
While quitting the show has left the host feeling emotional, the potential end of her TV hosting career isn’t the only thing that has her in panic mode.
Recently, insiders spoke to the Daily Mail about the real reason Clarkson is terrified about her exit.
According to them, leaving felt like a nightmare for the songstress due to the potential impact on her dedicated staff.
“She’s made it clear that she doesn’t want her decisions to affect all our livelihoods…but it’s a bit too late for that now,” a staffer revealed.
They also shared that Clarkson broke down during meetings with high-level producers about the show’s future.
“She was emotional. She was worried about the staff and had a bit of a breakdown about it,” they added.
Staffer Says Clarkson Speaking Ill Of The Show Isn’t Right

Another staffer shared their thoughts on Kelly Clarkson’s revelation about how the daytime show had taken over her personal life.
“I cringed when I heard her comments. It’s just not a good look, you know? You don’t want the person whose name is on the show to be trashing the show. Some things just need to be family business,” they revealed.
The staffer also admitted that everyone in the team understood the songwriter had gone through rough patches.
However, according to them, she needed to stop condemning the show in order to maintain the respect the team had for her.
“But if she wants to keep our goodwill, she needs to not trash the show,” they said.
They also noted that the best thing Clarkson could do was to notify all the team members on time, if she eventually decided to leave the show.
Kelly Clarkson Leaves Her Show Without Notice

Rumors of Clarkson’s exit began swirling in March 2025 when the 43-year-old abruptly left the set of her show for two weeks.
At the time, fans were told that the TV host was dealing with “private matters,” but details of what was going on remained under wraps.
Although the details of Clarkson’s absence were not disclosed, an insider told Page Six that it was a painful experience for the “The Voice” coach.
“This has all been very painful for her. The difficulty is that Kelly, like all of us, wants to be liked, and she had to deal with this new moment in her life. She knew she had to step down for a minute,” the source shared.
“She has her priorities, and her family comes first, but I think she’s been humbled by the whole situation… what has happened has given her a moment of clarity, I think,” they added.
During Clarkson’s brief absence, several stars filled in for her, including Andy Cohen and Brooke Shields.

Kelly Clarkson finally returned, and speculations about her show ending intensified, this time with alleged reasons for her exit.
An industry insider told Page Six that the TV personality was leaving to spend more time with her daughter, River Rose, and son, Remy.
“Kelly’s number one priority is her children, and they always will be. The show is grueling. It’s a whole lot of work, and I hear that Kelly would like to spend more time down South,” they shared.
Clarkson had also previously discussed taking some time off in the summer to spend with her kids.
“I do have some money saved aside, and it's for a little fund that I am going to start with my kids this summer. I’m going to let them pick somewhere in the world that we get to go to as a family and really delve into the culture and go for a week,” she said during a Q&A on Instagram in January.
Kelly Clarkson Wants To Concentrate On Her Music

While rumors suggest that the mom of two might be leaving due to her kids, there are also speculations that Clarkson wants to focus more on her music.
During an Atlantic City concert on May 9, the “American Idol” winner opened up about how her talk show had hindered her from doing shows.
“We haven’t done a singing show in a while, y’all, cause I have a talk show. It’s like a whole other job. We are bummed ‘cause we love doing singing shows, and it’s hard to fit in,” she said.
Speaking of her music, Clarkson launched her music label, High Road Records, in 2024 and is set to start her Las Vegas residency, “Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions.”
The residency will begin on July 4 and run through August 16, as well as November 7 through November 15.
