In her lengthy letter, Swift addressed the one question on everyone's mind: if she now has the rights to her first six albums, is there even any need to record the last two?

Swift addressed this directly, writing, “I know, I know. What about Rep TV? Full transparency: I haven’t even re-recorded a quarter of it. The Reputation album was so specific to that time in my life, and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it."

“To be perfectly honest, it’s the one album in those first 6 that I thought couldn’t be improved upon by redoing it,” she continued. “Not the music, or photos, or videos. So I kept putting it off. There will be a time (if you’re into the idea) for the unreleased Vault tracks from that album to watch.”

Although it seems that it might be years until "Reputation (Taylor's Version)" is released, if it ever is, she did give fans hope that her debut album re-recording would eventually be released, since she has already completed it and has a lot of "love" for its new sound.

“I’ve already completely re-recorded my entire debut album, and I really love how it sounds now,” she wrote in her letter. “Those 2 albums can still have their moments to re-emerge when the time is right, if that would be something you guys would be excited about.”

“But if it happens, it won’t be from a place of sadness and longing for what I wish I could have,” she added. “It will just be a celebration now.”

Many fans have been taking to social media to express their disappointment over what they have been calling “Rep TV.” One fan took to Reddit to share their thoughts, revealing that they have been a fan of the “You Belong With Me” singer since the third grade, when Swift released her debut album.

The Swiftie revealed that she has been supportive of the Taylor Version albums and liked "Red (Taylor’s Version)" even more than the original track. Although they went out and bought all of the Taylor’s Version vinyl records for their collection, they are now “super pissed” that it seems that "Reputation (Taylor’s Version)" will never come.

“Rep TV has been dangled in our faces for years,” they wrote. “Now its like ‘oh well, not coming anytime soon because it’s not done yet or even fully recorded. I might not do it.’ Are you serious?”

“Why even mention it at all if it wasn’t going to be released? Like, just admit that you're milking us. You did this to buy your masters. The vault tracks, variants, merch.... this is exhausting,” they continued, admitting that they now “regret buying her TV albums.”

“I wish I had waited until she bought her masters back. I would have saved so much money and avoided the variant/vault truck fatigue. I won’t buy into the collectors editions anymore,” they continued, going on to discuss how many fans expected the album to be released by the end of the year.

“Are we just gaslighting ourselves? I can’t be the only fan annoyed,” the user concluded. Many fans expressed their agreement, with one fan pointing out that she recently wore a snake necklace in her pre-recorded video accepting her iHeart award to tease her fans, all the while knowing she was close to nearing a deal to get her masters back.

“It’s all just lies and more lies. I really can’t say I’m shocked considering how long she dragged out the re-record process, but I’m annoyed, and also regret buying all the re-records and supporting her throughout this process,” they wrote. “She spat in everyone’s face.”

Should Taylor Swift Release 'Reputation (Taylor's Version)'?

The "Love Story" singer should absolutely re-record Reputation and release it in its entirety. Even though she understandably wants to distance herself from that period of her life, there are many fans who consider Reputation to be her best album and want to see how the music changes with the hindsight Swift has achieved over the years.

Fans have been looking forward to this album for years, even going so far as to point out signs in her outfits to confirm their theories that a release date was soon. Swift was the one who initially seemed to push this idea of hiding "Easter eggs" in her songs and clothing in order to give her fans a secret message to decode, so it feels a bit disingenuous for her to tease them with the possibility of a new album release and then reveal that it's not even close to being done.

But Swift is the "mastermind" behind her music, and if she doesn't want to re-record the entire album, no one can force her to. She's reached the stage of her career where it seems that no one can force her to do anything.

But, at the very least, she should record and release the vaulted tracks, the songs that didn't make it on the album that no one got to hear. It's been over a year since The Tortured Poets Department was released, and Swifties are eager for some new music, even if the situations that inspired those songs are already old news.

What do you think? Should Taylor Swift still release "Reputation (Taylor's Version)" in its entirety or only the vaulted tracks? Are you still looking forward to her debut album re-recording? Let us know in the comments below!
