Meghan Markle's Renewed Show Called 'A Business Risk' For Netflix

Meghan Markle's partnership with Netflix continues to face scrutiny, with a British media personality expressing disappointment over her lifestyle series.
Esther Krakue, a popular political commentator, weighed in on the Duchess of Sussex's "With Love, Meghan" show and why it didn't meet her expectations. She implied the streaming giant suffered a considerable loss teaming up with the former actress and her husband, Prince Harry.
Meghan Markle teamed up with Netflix to launch a lifestyle series that offered a rare glimpse into her life five years after exiting the Royal Family in 2020. However, critics like Esther Krakue believe the "Suits" alum falls short as a host and should not be on TV.
British Media Personality Says Meghan Markle Is 'Not A Fun Person'

Krakue did not mince her words while addressing Meghan's eight-part show, claiming she was not "an entertainer or an entertaining person." The media personality noted the Duchess lacked the vibrant personality needed for TV, saying:
"She's not a fun person to be around. You don't think this is the person I want to go to the pub with to have a pint with. It's very clear that she is not box office in terms of entertainment quality."
Based on these arguments, Krakue sympathized with Netflix for reportedly spending £78 million in her partnership deal with Harry and Meghan. She told The Sun the streaming giant failed to get the value of their money, noting: "It was obviously a business risk taking them on."

Krakue claimed that Netflix must have realized they had chosen the wrong duo to work with, arguing that the Sussexes only signed the expensive contract due to their security concerns. Although she labeled Harry and Meghan the "world's most boring couple," Krakue noted they could revamp their image.
According to the broadcaster, Meghan struggled to win fans with her lifestyle series. Instead of cooking with her celebrity friends and painting herself as a CEO women could come to for advice, Krakue stressed that the Duchess should focus on her relationship.
"I want to know, how did you bag a prince? What did you do? What were the techniques? Who's your waxing lady? I want to know the juicy stuff that should make her interesting, but she's so terrified to tell the public," Krakue lamented.
She argued that the way Meghan saw herself and who she was were two different people.
Meghan Did Not Shoot Her Lifestyle Series In Her Montecito Home

When Meghan announced her lifestyle series, many assumed it would be filmed at her home in Montecito. However, The Blast shared that the program was shot in the kitchen of philanthropists Thomas and Sherrie Cipolla, whose residence was two miles away from the Duchess of Sussex's residence.
Meghan revealed the reason behind this choice at the Time 100 Summit in New York, noting that she did not want strangers intruding on her children's privacy.
She tried to protect Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet's childhood memories by ensuring they could have their afternoon naps and enjoy their freedom.
Fortunately, her team found the perfect alternative in the Cipollas' $5 million property, which matched the homey atmosphere Meghan was going for.
Another unique detail about her show was her conversation with the production crew while filming, which the Duchess noted made her feel like she was talking to viewers.
The Duchess Of Sussex Accused Of Being 'Distant' From Montecito Neighbors

Before getting bashed for her "boring" lifestyle show, The Blast reported that Meghan faced criticisms for allegedly keeping her distance from her Montecito neighbors. Richard Mineards, a journalist familiar with the area, claimed the former actress "doesn't play the community game."
He recalled that an elderly historian from the area once attempted to deliver some documents to Meghan personally. Unfortunately, the old man never made it past her gates. Mineards implied the Duchess preferred to keep to herself, unlike Harry, who was more approachable.
"She's there, of course, but she shows herself very little. Her relationship with Montecito is … distant, shall we say," Mineards added. He claimed this distance stemmed from Meghan's obsession with keeping "a very controlled image" to avoid making the wrong moves or saying the wrong thing.
Meghan Markle Addressed The 'Lonely' Side Of Being A Business Owner

Days earlier, Meghan got candid about the struggles of being her own boss in a May episode of her "Confessions of a Female Founder" podcast. The Blast shared that she credited her partnership with Netflix for taking the weight off her shoulders, saying:
"When you only have yourself to answer to, I think it's two-fold. It can be incredibly liberating, and it can be incredibly lonely."
Meghan explained that she initially wanted to launch her lifestyle brand, As Ever, by herself, but changed her mind because the streaming giant's goals aligned with hers.
Additionally, the former actress expressed her desire to help other women achieve their dreams as business owners, noting she was in the business to "uplift" them.
