Former "Glee" star Dianna Agron is causing a stir, but this time not with a new role. Instead, with the way she speaks.

In a recent video, fans were quick to notice that Agron sounded strikingly different from her days as Quinn Fabray on the hit Fox series.

Dianna Agron, who rose to fame between 2009 and 2015 playing the icy cheerleader on "Glee," now appears to be using a mid-Atlantic, or Transatlantic, accent, a speaking style once popularized in early 20th-century Hollywood.

Social media users were quick to react to Dianna Agron’s unexpected accent, with many expressing confusion and amusement. Comments flooded in, ranging from “Why is she speaking like that?” and “Huh? She’s from San Antonio. What is this accent?” to “She literally just invented a new voice, I’m so confused.”

Viewers were stunned by her softened "r"s and exaggerated "t" sounds, a stark contrast to her earlier voice, which reflected her upbringing in San Antonio, Texas, and Burlingame, California.

Others chimed in with playful jabs like “Did she borrow Padma Lakshmi’s voice?” and “Me when I pick a new personality every morning.”

Supporters Stand By Dianna Agron Amid Accent Backlash

Still, not everyone was ready to critique Agron’s apparent vocal evolution.

Supporters came to her defense, with one fan writing, “Her partner has a London accent so naturally she picks up some of that transatlantic tone. It’s adorable.”

Agron has been romantically linked to Belgian painter Harold Ancart since 2022. The couple reportedly live together in New York City. Their relationship follows Agron’s divorce from Winston Marshall, former member of Mumford & Sons, which was finalized in 2020.

Some online encouraged grace and acceptance for Agron’s transformation. “Y’all, just let people disappear and then reappear with inexplicable accents!! We are dealing with so much. Just let this one slide, ok honestly,” one user wrote.

‘Glee’ Stars Reunite On Broadway

Last month, Broadway got a dose of "Glee" magic when Lea Michele and Dianna Agron reunited to support their former co-star Darren Criss in his new musical, "Maybe Happy Ending." The reunion took place on Wednesday, April 9, at New York City’s Belasco Theatre, where Criss is currently starring opposite Helen J Shen.

The longtime friends made a night of it, capturing the experience on Instagram the next day. Michele playfully captioned her post, “Night out with my beautiful friend from high school to see our former classmate perform on Broadway,” a nod to their days on the hit Fox series as students of the fictional William McKinley High School.

Michele’s carousel of photos included a sweet shot of the trio with their heads leaned together, a backstage group selfie, and snapshots from the curtain call. She also shared a picture featuring the full cast, posing alongside Agron.

Two years ago, Agron opened up about the bittersweet legacy of "Glee," which not only bonded her with her castmates, but also left behind both joyful memories and profound heartbreak.

Speaking with Newsweek while promoting her film "As They Made Us," the actress shared that, despite the show ending nearly a decade ago, it continues to hold significant weight in her life.  Agron, who portrayed the complex cheerleader-turned-Yale-graduate Quinn Fabray from 2009 to 2015, recalled the intensity of growing up on camera.

“We worked together for so long, we found our footing together, we really came of age publicly on that show,” she explained. “There were so many firsts for us on that show. So it’s bound to always resonate and come up emotionally.”

But in the years since the series wrapped, "Glee"’s legacy has been marred by tragedy. The losses of Cory Monteith, Mark Salling, and Naya Rivera, all original cast members, have left deep emotional scars on the "Glee" family. Agron didn’t shy away from that reality.

“It’s complicated,” she admitted. “When I think about our experiences, the joyful moments rise to the top. But the sadness we have experienced. It’s very real. It’s not anything I would wish for anybody, to know those feelings of losing friends or partners or family members.”

Despite the heartbreak, Agron continues to find healing through her creative work, embracing indie films and roles that allow her to explore life’s complexities from new angles.
