Caitlin Clark Will Miss At Least Four Games Due To Quad Strain

On Monday, May 26, the Indiana Fever announced that their star point guard, Clark, will miss the next two weeks of action after suffering an injury.

In their official statement, the team specified that Clark suffered a "left quadriceps strain" and said they will provide further updates following her re-evaluation.

The news of Clark's injury came at the wrong time for Fever fans, considering they, along with the Fever's head coach, Stephanie White, have been reeling since their narrow loss to the New York Liberty late last week.

In that game, Clark was pressed by the Liberty's Tasha Cloud on an inbound pass with less than three seconds on the clock. Cloud stripped the ball, marking Clark's 10th turnover of the game, but both Clark and White argued it should have been a foul.

"I thought she got fouled. I think it's pretty egregious what's been happening to us the last few games," White said in a postgame news conference. "And I might be able to understand it if we were just chuckin' 3s, but we're not. We're attacking the rim. And the disrespect right now for our team has been pretty unbelievable."

She continued, "It's disappointing, that it doesn't go both ways or that it hasn't gone both ways, but we also can't allow that to consume us. We've gotta be able to play through that, we've gotta be able to control the things that we can control."

Caitlin Clark Won’t Be Able To Play Against Angel Reese And The Chicago Sky In Early June

Because of her expected two-week absence, Clark won't be able to suit up for the Fever's next four matchups: two games against the Washington Mystics, one against the Connecticut Sun, and a highly anticipated rematch against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.

When the teams last met on May 17, the Fever dominated the Sky, winning 93-58.

That game also featured on-court drama between Reese and Clark, reigniting a rivalry that began when Reese's LSU Tigers defeated Clark's Iowa Hawkeyes for the 2023 national championship.

Caitlin Clark Sparked Headlines After Clash With Reese

For those unfamiliar with their latest interaction, things got chippy between Clark and Reese after Clark committed a take foul on Reese to stop her from scoring an open layup.

Reese didn't take kindly to the foul, though, hopping from the floor, uttering the words, "What the f-ck is wrong with you?" before being separated by their teammates.

Although Clark stated in a post-game conference that she wasn't being "malicious," her actions still drew criticism.

"I don't have an issue with the foul. I thought it was a hard foul, yep, I thought the refs got it right," WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes said. "My issue wasn't even with the foul. If you're going to foul somebody, I was always taught you don't give up an easy basket, period. And that's what I thought Caitlin did. My thing with that was, stand in it. Don't walk away."

Caitlin Clark Joined Forces With State Farm For Another Commercial

Off the court, Clark is also making headlines with her latest State Farm campaign.

Last week, the insurance company released a new commercial starring the WNBA sensation in which she reminds customers about the power of real-life assists that often go unrecognized.

It's the latest promotional piece Clark has done with the company since teaming up with them in 2023 as the first collegiate athlete on their roster of high-profile stars, including Patrick Mahomes, Chris Paul, and JuJu Watkins.
