The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, may want to learn how to protect his face after suffering another viral attack.

The politician found himself making headlines for allegedly getting slapped in the face by his wife. Although many from his camp have downplayed the incident as a harmless moment between lovebirds, social media users beg to differ.

The controversial incident between President Emmanuel Macron and his longtime partner, Brigitte Macron, comes four years after he was slapped in the face by a protester in France.

The paparazzi captured the drama within the Macron family after the couple docked their aircraft in Vietnam on Sunday, May 25. There appeared to have been a disagreement before they got off the plane, with a viral video on X capturing the speculated dispute.

In the clip, Emmanuel could be seen getting pushed back in full view of the reporters watching as his wife shoved him in the face. She used both hands to shove her beau, aiming for his mouth as though to shut it up. Brigitte wasn't fully seen, but her hands and the sleeve of her red jacket made it into the video.

The President of France initially appeared dazed from the impact before immediately switching into politician mode. He smiled and waved at onlookers, pretending to be unfazed by what happened.

The Politician's Camp Initially Denied The Incident

The video capturing Emmanuel and Brigitte's speculated disagreement may not have gained the traction it did if the politician's camp did not deny the incident. They initially claimed the president was not shoved in the face, but did a complete 180 in the face of evidence.

An aide claimed it was a harmless dispute between the lovebirds, echoing similar sentiments to a French official who described it as the couple having a laugh before starting their official duties.

Many from Emmanuel's camp played off the incident as a "moment of closeness," but social media users are calling BS on the claims. These critics shared their theories on X, with someone noting there was nothing funny or loving about Brigitte's actions.

"This is domestic violence, no matter who it is coming from. I'm also a firm believer that whatever you see in public is far worse in private," their argument partly read.

The domestic violence theories continued, with another X user echoing the alleged claims of Brigitte abusing her husband. This individual placed her on the same table as former first lady Jill Biden, asking, "Why are liberal women so abusive toward their husbands?"

A third agreed, noting, "Brigitte Macron is 25 years older than Emmanuel Macron... all she needs is for him to take a bath and a scolding if he doesn't obey." More social media users bashed Brigitte as "toxic," while others claimed she had zero respect for her husband.

Many rallied behind Emmanuel, stressing that he did not deserve such harsh treatment from his wife. "If roles were reversed & a husband abused a female president, the world would LOSE IT. Toxic relationships have NO place—no matter who you are!" Someone argued.

As stated, the incident comes four years after a protester slapped the French politician.

In June 2021, the President of France went viral following a confrontation in Tain-l'Hermitage outside the city of Valence. A video capturing the incident showed Emmanuel in a black nose mask running towards a barrier to interact with the people behind it.

A man in a green t-shirt and blue nose mask grabbed Emmanuel's arm to get his attention. However, when the politician came closer, the individual used the opportunity to strike him across the face. Although security immediately swooped in to pull the two apart, the damage had already been done.

BBC reported that the attacker shouted "Down with Macron-ism" when he slapped Emmanuel. Additionally, the man referenced the banner of King Charlemagne by yelling "Montjoie, Saint-Denis," the war cry of the old Kingdom of France.

The French media noted that two men were later arrested for the incident.

When he was not getting slapped in the face, the President of France risked swimming in poop. Last June, The Blast shared that the criticisms against Emmanuel had skyrocketed during the Paris Olympics over concerns about the cleanliness of the Seine River.

Because France held the games last year, they pledged $1.5 billion to clean the Seine for swimming competitions. Unfortunately, citizens did not believe their efforts would yield positive results and staged the "Je Chie Dans La Seine Le 23 Juin" movement, which translates to "I poop in the Seine on June 23."

The threats to poop in the Seine went viral, with several people planning to dump their load in the river to change Emmanuel's mind. The politician had vowed to swim in the Seine alongside Mayor Anne Hidalgo before the competition started to prove the river was clean enough for the Olympics.

Will Emmanuel Macron address his speculated fight with his wife publicly or brush it off as a joke between lovers?
