Will Friedle, best known for playing Eric Matthews on "Boy Meets World," left fans stunned after revealing he’s about to become a grandfather.

On his podcast," Pod Meets World" with co-podcast hosts Danielle Fisheland Rider Strong, he announced that his 35-year-old stepdaughter, Lexi, is expecting her first child, making Will Friedle a proud “poppy” at age 48.

"I'm about to be a grandfather, actually," Friedle said on the episode, smiling as he shared the milestone moment. “Yeah, my stepdaughter's about to have my first grandchild, so I'm very happy. I'm 'bout to be a poppy!”

Fishel chimed in with excitement, “It’s going to be fun, I can’t wait,” to which Friedle added, “It’s gonna be great. I can’t either.”

Naturally, the internet quickly erupted with disbelief, as longtime fans struggled to accept that the once-goofy older brother from their childhood sitcom was now entering grandpa territory.

The news comes days after Friedle made a surprising confession that left his co-hosts Fishel and Strong nearly speechless. He doesn’t acknowledge Mother’s Day when it comes to his wife, Susan Martens.

“I don't get stuff for Sue on Mother’s Day, am I supposed to?” Friedle asked after the topic came up during casual banter. His remark immediately caught the attention of Fishel and Strong, who urged him to reconsider his approach.

“Do you say Happy Mother’s Day?” Strong asked.

Friedle responded, “Probably not. I don’t know!” prompting Fishel to react with visible disbelief.

“Will! Did you not say Happy Mother’s Day today? Do you celebrate the holiday for her at all?” she pressed.

Friedle explained that he usually reserves the sentiment for his own mom, saying, “I say it to my mom.”

Friedle’s recent personal milestone comes amid lingering controversy tied to his past support of convicted sex offender Brian Peck. This issue resurfaced after the release of an ID Channel special detailing the case.

The documentary revealed that several actors had written letters of support for Peck in 2004 as he awaited sentencing for the sexual abuse of then-child actor Drake Bell. While it remains unclear how much each individual knew about the specific charges at the time, the revelation that "Boy Meets World" stars Friedle and Strong were among those who submitted letters sparked renewed scrutiny.

Addressing the controversy on their "Pod Meets World" podcast, both Friedle and Strong publicly expressed deep regret for their actions.

Friedle candidly reflected on how Peck, who had guest-starred on two episodes of "Boy Meets World," manipulated him into believing a false narrative.

“He ingratiated himself into my life,” Friedle shared. “So you sidle up to the guy who now you look back on as an adult and you go, ‘He's horrible.’ And my instinct initially was, ‘Well, my friend can’t be this person, this can’t be. So it’s got to be the other person’s fault.’”

Friedle admitted the realization now haunts him. “I look back at that now as an adult, and it makes me want to cry that I ever was that naive,” he said. Reflecting on his courtroom appearance nearly two decades ago, he added, “I was sitting on the wrong side of everything.”

On Tuesday, May 20, the 44-year-old actor, best known for his iconic role as Cory Matthews on "Boy Meets World" and its spinoff "Girl Meets World," announced that he and his wife, Tessa Angermeier, are expecting their first child together.

“Arriving this fall,” Savage captioned a sweet Instagram post featuring the couple standing in the middle of a road, proudly holding up ultrasound images of their baby. Tessa echoed the joy on her own Instagram, sharing, “November can’t come soon enough [red heart emoji],” offering a hint at the baby’s expected due date.

The couple began dating in 2018 and got engaged in January 2023, tying the knot just two months later in a private March ceremony. Now, they’re preparing for their biggest role yet - parenthood.
