As the 51st Annual American Music Awards draws near, the stage is set not only for star-studded performances but also for record-breaking moments.
According to newly compiled data from VegasInsider.com sent to The Blast, up to 13 major American Music Awards records could be broken at this year’s ceremony, making it one of the most potentially historic events in the award show’s history.
Taylor Swift Could Shatter Records At 2025 American Music Awards

Taylor Swiftleads the list of artists poised to make history.
Already the most awarded artist in AMA history with 40 wins, Swift has the chance to extend her lead to a staggering 46 awards if she wins all six of her 2025 nominations. She could also become the first artist ever to win Artist of the Year eight times, further cementing her dominance in the category after previous wins in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2022.
Additionally, Swift could collect her eighth win for Favorite Female Pop Artist, her sixth in a row, and a sixth trophy for Favorite Pop/Rock Album with "The Tortured Poets Department." If she wins in that category, she’ll also become the first artist to win it three consecutive times.
Kendrick Lamar Could Break Michael Jackson’s AMA Record With Historic Nine-Win Sweep

Kendrick Lamar also finds himself in record-breaking territory.
With 10 nominations this year, including two songs competing in the same category, Lamar could walk away with up to nine wins. That would surpass the long-standing American Music Awards record for most wins in a single ceremony, currently shared by Michael Jackson (1984) and Whitney Houston (1994) with eight wins each.
Lamar is also in contention to tie Nicki Minaj’s record of three wins in the Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album category if his project "GNX" takes the prize.
Ariana Grande, Eminem, Megan Thee Stallion, And Future All Eye AMA History With Potential Career-Defining Wins

Ariana Grande has a chance to become only the fourth artist in AMA history, and the second female artist, to win Artist of the Year multiple times. A victory this year would mark her second win in the category, joining the ranks of Justin Bieber, One Direction, and Swift.
Meanwhile, Eminem could extend his lead as the most awarded artist in the Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Male Artist category, aiming for his fifth win. However, if Drake takes the category instead, he’ll tie Eminem’s current record of four wins.
Megan Thee Stallion could also secure her place in AMA history by winning Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Female Artist for the second time, joining Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and Missy Elliott as the only artists with multiple wins in that category.
Future is also aiming for his second win in Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Song for “Like That,” which would make him the only artist besides Cardi B to win the category more than once.
Marshmello, Charli XCX, And Linkin Park Could Make Genre History At 2025 American Music Awards

In the electronic/dance realm, Marshmello is in a position to extend his record with a fifth win as Favorite Electronic/Dance Artist and a third consecutive victory.
At the same time, Charli XCX could become just the second female artist ever to win in that category, following Lady Gaga’s historic win in 2020.
On the rock side, Linkin Park could further their lead as the most awarded artist in the Favorite Rock Artist category. With six wins already under their belt, a win this year would push their total to seven.
Rod Stewart To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award At 2025 AMAs Alongside Star-Studded Performances

Also happening at this year's American Music Awards show, music legend Sir Rod Stewart will be celebrated with a Lifetime Achievement Award, marking a major moment at this year’s show.
In addition to receiving the prestigious honor, Stewart will take the stage for a special performance of one of his iconic hits.
Also set to perform are Jennifer Lopez, who is also serving as this year's host, "Beautiful Things" artist Benson Boone, country music singer Lainey Wilson, "Mean Girls" actress Reneé Rapp, "Conga" singer Gloria Estefan, and more.
With so many high-stakes nominations and potential milestones on the line, the 2025 American Music Awards is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and record-setting nights in music.
