Tammy Slaton's dramatic 500-pound weight loss is earning applause from fans, but behind the scenes, it is reportedly tearing her family apart. 

Last year, the "1000-LB Sisters" star proudly marked a combined 2,078-pound weight loss with her fellow "weight loss warriors" in a viral video celebrating their shared transformation.

Now, a source says Tammy Slaton is accusing her sister, Amanda Halterman, of being jealous of her success, suggesting that her triumph may have set off some family tension.

Tammy may be hitting major milestones on her weight loss journey, but things are reportedly falling apart at home, especially with her sister. According to an insider:

"Tammy has been going on and on about how Amanda is jealous of her now that she's lost weight. She's convinced of it."

They also claim that Halterman was blindsided by the accusation, especially given that she has always supported Tammy through the ups and downs.

"They got into it over something, the way sisters sometimes do, and instead of dealing with it like an adult, Tammy resorted to this bizarre accusation that Amanda is jealous of her," the informant added.

Both sisters once shared a common goal,  shedding pounds and improving their health. Halterman, who weighed over 400 pounds at one point, worked alongside Tammy as they pushed through personal struggles.

But after Tammy underwent bariatric surgery in 2022 and spent more than a year in a weight loss clinic, her massive transformation reportedly shifted the dynamic between them.

While Halterman has long been seen as the blunt but supportive sibling on TlC's "1000-LB Sisters," insiders told In Touch that Tammy's recent attitude has taken a turn, sparking tension.

What started as a rift between Tammy and Halterman is now affecting everyone around them. A source close to the family says the two have been "going back and forth," and the tension is putting their relatives in an uncomfortable spot.

"It's very awkward for Amy and the rest of the family because they are getting put in the middle," they shared. The insider claims that Tammy's not budging either, claiming that she is leaning into the drama and pushing others to choose a side.

"Tammy is not backing down on this and is being very catty about it. She wants everyone to pick sides," they explained. The person also noted that Halterman's feelings are hurt, but the hope is that Salton's behavior will settle as she gains confidence in her new life.

For now, though, the silence and sidestepping inside the family are only making things worse. As the source put it plainly, "It's so childish, but unfortunately no one has the guts to address it head on, so there's just a lot of whispering and talking around it. It's caused a lot of tension."

Before the recent reports of family tension and jealousy, Tammy celebrated one of the biggest milestones of her life, dropping 500 pounds.

In August of last year, she shared a powerful TikTok video that featured her and six other women proudly showcasing their collective weight loss.The Blast reported that the clip, set to Andra Day's "Rise Up," highlighted a combined total of 2,078 pounds lost between the group.

Each woman appeared one by one with on-screen text showing how much weight she had shed. When Tammy stepped into the frame, viewers got a glimpse of her staggering transformation. The 38-year-old captioned the post with a heartfelt tribute to her friends, writing:

"Truly absolutely amazing ladies and I'm happy to call y'all all my friends. I'm so proud of each and every one of y'all. Not only are you beautiful on the inside, but you're gorgeous on the outside. Never forget."

Slaton's 500-pound weight loss is not the only milestone she has achieved this year, as her transformation journey is nearly complete. The TLC star received the green light for her long-awaited skin removal surgery in the upcoming episode of her reality TV show.

An exclusive clip obtained by TODAY captured Slaton's visit to her doctor, Dr. Eric Smith. She had her fingers crossed as she waited apprehensively to find out if she would receive another rejection to remove her excess skin. However, the medical practitioner surprised her with the big news, saying:

"You've shown me that you can focus on your nutrition, and because of that, I'm giving you the green light to go back to Pittsburgh and get you scheduled to have your skin removed."

Dr. Smith confirmed Slaton's surgeon had also agreed to operate, leaving the TV personality ecstatic to finally achieve her dream body.

"You're approved. What? You gave me all that big spiel about not having enough protein, but yet, you were going to let me go up there," she raved in her confessional.

When her doctor asked how she felt at his office, Slaton confirmed she was "relieved" to scale over the last obstacle on her weight loss journey. She was so happy that she could not keep a straight face while trying to prank her family, who were patiently waiting outside.

Dr. Smith convinced Slaton to pretend he rejected the skin removal surgery and went outside first to let her family know how upset she was. However, when it was Slaton's turn to feign disappointment, she appeared with a radiant smile while declaring: "I got approved!"
