Nicole Kidman may be a red carpet veteran, but even Hollywood royalty isn't immune to a hair hiccup or two, and Sunday night in Cannes proved just that.
The "Moulin Rouge!" star stunned at the prestigious 2025 Kering Women in Motion Awards and Presidential Dinner during the Cannes Film Festival.
Nicole Kidman’s voluminous strawberry blonde locks, achieved with the help of a wig, exposed more than just glam.
Nicole Kidman’s Wig Woes Steal The Spotlight At Cannes As Fans Spot Visible Cap And Off-Center Hairpiece

According to Daily Mail, eagle-eyed fans couldn’t help but notice the visible mesh wig cap beneath the hairpiece as she posed for cameras.
It was an unexpected slip-up for the Oscar winner, who typically slays every step and strand on the carpet. And to make matters worse, this marked her second hair-related mishap of the day. Earlier, while giving a talk in a sleek all-black leather ensemble, her hairpiece appeared noticeably off-center, throwing off her natural scalp line and sparking some serious online chatter.
Nicole Gets Emotional At Cannes As She Accepts 2025 Women In Motion Award

Still, Kidman took it all in stride, showing off her signature grace, and her famously smooth complexion, as she accepted the coveted Women in Motion Award.
“I’m just an advocate and want to continue to keep moving forward with that,” she said during her emotional speech, reflecting on her long-standing commitment to gender equality in the film industry. “I am proud to join the list of extraordinary women who've received this honor before me, artists and trailblazers I deeply admire."
She continued, "The Cannes Film Festival has been a part of my life for over 30 years and I am thrilled to add this incredible recognition to the many memories I've made here.”
Nicole Kidman Receives 2025 Women In Motion Award For 'Transformative Portrayals'

Kering and the Cannes Film Festival revealed that Kidman would be honored with the 2025 Women in Motion Award in an Instagram post shared on April 28.
"Kering and the @festivaldecannes are proud to announce that @nicolekidman will receive the 2025 Women in Motion Award," the post read.
"A major figure in cinema, Nicole Kidman has built a career marked as much by her artistic audacity as by her virtuosity and transformative portrayals that have reshapes the representation of women on screen," the post continued. "'From Eyes Wide Shut' and 'The Hours to Big Little Lies' and 'Babygirl,' her work reflects a deep commitment to bold, uncompromising storytelling."
Nicole Sticks To Her Promise To Uplift Women In Film

During her speech, Nicole also shared that she’s been sticking to her 2017 promise to work with a female director every 18 months.
Since then, she’s collaborated with 27 women across various projects, including several yet to be released. “Part of it is protecting and surrounding the women with almost like a force field of protection and support,” she added.
Though she’s no stranger to wigs, rarely showcasing her natural curls since her early days, this latest beauty blip comes just weeks after she debuted a bold new haircut at the Met Gala. Aussie hairstylist Andrew Newport weighed in, suggesting it may be “Nicole’s real hair with the length at the back disguised under some artfully placed, clipped or glued-in hair pieces.”
Still, if anyone can turn a hair fail into a headline-making moment and still come out looking iconic, it’s Nicole Kidman. After all, as she joked in Cannes, she’s always up for something new.
“That’s hilarious. I’d be up for it," she said. "I like to be able to say I’m game. So I’m always ready to try things.”
Nicole Kidman Turns Heads In Runway-Ready Balenciaga Look

The event served as a prelude to the annual Women in Motion dinner, a joint effort by Kering and the Cannes Film Festival to honor women who’ve made impactful contributions to the world of film, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
For the occasion, Kidman rocked a bold look straight off the runway: a black corset-style jacket from Balenciaga’s Fall 2025 collection, which debuted at Paris Fashion Week. She completed the ensemble with a pair of loose-fitting jeans, mirroring the edgy, high-fashion styling of the original runway look.
