Halle Bailey Scores Another Court Win In Fight Against Ex DDG

The legal drama between Halle Bailey and her ex-partner, DDG, is turning out to be a battle in the singer's favor following a judge's recent order.

The "Halo" hitmaker scored another victory against her former beau, whom she accused of domestic violence. The pair were once hailed as a power couple, welcoming a son before their October 2024 split.

Although Halle Bailey and DDG vowed to have an amicable co-parenting relationship, the cracks in their bond became evident last November. At the time, the entertainer called out her ex for livestreaming with their son without her consent.

According to new reports, the "Little Mermaid" star petitioned the court for sole custody of her son, Halo, on Tuesday, May 13. A judge agreed, granting her sole physical and legal custody of the boy until a June 4 hearing.

Bailey defended her decision to file the custody petition without notice to DDG, citing her recent domestic violence claims. According to her legal filing, she "was afraid that the violence would reoccur" if she notified her ex about the petition.

The entertainer, per the documents obtained by Page Six, added that she feared for her son's safety. Bailey noted she was concerned "the other party would take the children out of the area" before the order could be granted and served.

Her words matched her recent abuse claims, which earned her first legal victory against her ex-lover.

Bailey's domestic violence claims went viral this week when she was granted a restraining order against DDG. Her ex-boyfriend, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., was ordered to stay away from the singer and their young son.

Additionally, the judge ordered DDG not to possess any weapons. The restrictions on the YouTuber can be extended up to five years if he fails to defend himself against Bailey's claims at a June 6 hearing, per ABC News.

The allegations against the media personality are scathing, with Bailey claiming: "Throughout our relationship, Daryl has been and continues to be physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards me. I am seeking orders to protect myself and our son, Halo, from his ongoing abuse."

According to her restraining order petition, Bailey alleged there have been "multiple acts of physical violence" since she broke up with DDG in 2024.

She recalled a January incident where her ex repeatedly called her a "b-tch" while she strapped their son into a seat inside his vehicle. Bailey lamented in the documents:

"The next thing I knew, things got physical between us. We fought each other, wrestling and tussling. At one point, Darryl was pulling my hair. He then slammed my face on the steering wheel, causing my tooth to get chipped. I then stopped fighting back as I was in a lot of pain."

She backed up her claims with pictures of her chipped tooth and bruises on her arms. The alleged abuse continued in March when Bailey claimed DDG broke into her home and texted her a photo of her bed alongside a threatening message that implied she was sleeping with other men.

A few days after the alleged break-in, Bailey accused DDG of berating her harshly because she refused to allow their sick son to go on a visit with him. She claimed her ex smashed the Ring camera on her porch when he realized it was recording him.

Besides fearing DDG's alleged physical and verbal violence, Bailey was worried about his massive platform. She implored the court to stop the YouTuber from thrashing her on his social media accounts, writing:

"Whenever he wishes to cause upset, he starts bad mouthing me to his several millions of fans. He claims I am withholding our son and that I am with other men. As a result, I then receive threats and hate on social media."

Following reports of Bailey's restraining order petition, The Blast shared that DDG broke his silence about the allegations nonchalantly. "I'm chillin btw… I have no worries. Streaming later on, no days off!" the media personality declared.

Unfortunately for him, his fans did not rally to his corner, and many called him out for failing to handle the situation appropriately. "When men say they're chilling, they're actually losing their sh-t!! You most definitely hit the lil mermaid," someone bashed DDG on X.

Another echoed similar sentiments, writing: "YOU SUCH A BUM." A third advised the streamer to see this as a "good time to regroup and stay off the internet," while a fourth labeled him a "liar" who abused women. Rapper Soulja Boy also supported Bailey, threatening to beat up DDG if he ever saw him.
