The DDG and Halle situation has attracted considerable public attention. The Blast reported that the matter has led his family to address the matter publicly.
DDG's mother, Tonya Granberry, responded to allegations made against her son in the restraining order. On May 13, she used her Instagram Stories to label the accusations as false, stating, "I don't usually comment or say anything on this internet, even with all the negativity, the lies, and hatred towards mine."
Granberry emphasized that Hailey's claims prompted her to break her silence. Earlier that day, she also posted a meme featuring Kermit the Frog in a phone booth, captioned with the phrase "Hello Jesus, take the wheel," seemingly reflecting her feelings about the unfolding situation.
Granberry's response sparked a significant reaction from fans. Many sympathized with Halle, accusing Granberry of enabling her son's behavior. Comments included claims that only certain mothers react the way Granberry does, suggesting a denial of her son's wrongdoing.
Others pointed out that some mothers may raise problematic behavior without recognizing the signs. Conversely, there were supporters of Granberry who argued against the disrespect shown toward her.
One commenter noted that Granberry typically stays out of the drama regarding her son's past relationships, referencing her low-key presence on YouTube since moving to LA with him.
The Rapper Was Ordered To Stay 100 Yards Away From 'The Little Mermaid' Star

Halle referred to the verbal abuse from her ex-partner, DDG. In her allegations, she noted that he frequently insulted her by calling her derogatory names, such as "b-tch" and "evil," often in front of their son.
She also mentioned that DDG would publicly demean her to his millions of fans whenever he wanted to provoke her. As a result of these incidents, a restraining order has been put in place, requiring DDG to maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from Halle and their son.
He was also instructed to stay away from Halo's school and Halle's vehicle. A court hearing is scheduled for June 6 to decide if this restraining order will be extended.
In the court documents, Bailey expressed her realization that she could no longer tolerate the abuse, stating, "I realize that there is no placating Darryl. I cannot allow this abuse any longer."
Halle Bailey Kicked Against DDG Putting Their Son On Stream

The streamer described their split as ultimately the best choice for both him and his partner. However, their co-parenting relationship has since been rocky.
In November 2024, the "The Little Mermaid" publicly expressed her displeasure with DDG for featuring their child, Halo, in an online streaming episode with Kai Cenat without her consent.
In a now-deleted post, she voiced her frustration, emphasizing that she was out of town and had not been notified about her child's public appearance, which she felt was inappropriate. Many hoped that their co-parenting disputes would be short-lived, but the tension continued for several months.
By March 2025, DDG accused Halle of blocking him from seeing their son. In a livestream, he mentioned his reluctance to make personal matters public, but felt compelled to address the situation.
The rapper claimed his attempts to be an involved father were being thwarted, as he articulated a deep desire to be present in his son's life. DDG insisted he was not a "deadbeat" and that there should be consequences for the barriers preventing him from seeing Halo.
