Bindi Irwin's absence at her father's event was non-negotiable!

The television personality has given a situation report on her surgery that forced her to be a no-show at her father, Steve Irwin's, gala over the weekend.

Bindi Irwin is currently recovering after undergoing emergency surgery to remove her appendix and 14 endometriosis lesions.

In an Instagram video from her hospital bed, Bindi expressed her gratitude for the care she received and shared her journey. She explained, "I had my appendix removed," and that she also had her hernia repaired, emphasizing the success of the surgery. 

Bindi reflected on the support from her family and fans, stating how she feels to have such love in her life. In her words:

"Thank you, guys, for your kind words and your support. I'm sorry if I'm a little out of it in this video, but I just wanted you to know that I am on the road to recovery, one step at a time. I am so lucky to have so much love in my life from my beautiful family. Sending love and light your way and we'll get through this."

In her post caption, she thanked medical professionals Dr. Seckin and Dr. Chu at Lenox Hospital for their assistance and noted her previous struggles with endometriosis. She then went into details of her surgery, writing:

"My appendix was removed, along with another 14 lesions (after having 37 endometriosis lesions and a cyst removed two years ago). I also had a repair to a large hernia I acquired through childbirth four years ago. Thankfully, I am on the road to recovery. I appreciate all the kind messages I've received, and the support for our Gala in Las Vegas."

The 26-Year-Old Praised Her Brother, Robert Irwin, For Organizing An Excellent Gala

The television personality also acknowledged her brother, Robert, for his impressive hosting of the gala, and her family for showing invaluable support.

"I have so much love for dear Chandler + sweet Grace. Thank you to Mum for being there with me every step of the way," the star wrote. The 21-year-old raised funds and awareness for Wildlife Warriors at the just-concluded event.

Bindi also hopefully expressed her intention to attend the next Steve Irwin gala in Brisbane this November. The conservationist rounded up her message by conveying a hopeful message, stating it's "time to heal," and sending her love to all her supporters.

The Zookeeper Was Initially Willing To Brave Her Pain For The Gala

Robert earlier shared that Bindi's absence from the gala was due to an emergency surgery for a ruptured appendix. As noted by The Blast, though she was recovering well, the situation was unexpected, especially after her recent battle with endometriosis.

He emphasized the importance of health and noted that their mother, Terri, would stay with Bindi during this time. Despite her health challenges, Bindi reportedly showed remarkable determination to attend the annual event, even traveling to Las Vegas.

Robert recounted how she tried to put on a brave face despite experiencing significant discomfort and pain. However, her surgeon ultimately made the decision that her appendix needed to be removed for her health's sake.

While Bindi was understandably upset about missing the gala, Robert maintained a positive outlook regarding her recovery, believing she would bounce back soon. He also praised her commitment to advocating for women's health, highlighting the importance of seeking help when needed.

The Actress Detailed Her Concerns During Pregnancy With Endometriosis

Bindi, despite struggling with endometriosis, successfully navigated her pregnancy journey. In an interview with "Good Morning America," she shared her fears of miscarriage during her first pregnancy.

The zookeeper recalled moments of intense pain that led her to believe she might be losing her baby. Fortunately, she carried her daughter, Grace, to term in 2021.

Before receiving her diagnosis, Bindi shared that she underwent extensive testing, ruling out various conditions, from tropical diseases to cancer. She expressed the frustration of feeling unheard, as well-meaning friends suggested her issues were merely "in her head" or due to hormonal changes.

This left her feeling isolated and desperate for answers. It was not until an intense episode of pain in August 2022 forced her to the ground that she decided to opt for a laparoscopy, which ultimately confirmed her endometriosis diagnosis.

In a Q&A session, The Blast shared that the  YouTuber and her husband, Chandler Powell, discussed their life at the zoo, their experiences with parenthood, and the potential for expanding their family.

As they addressed the ongoing questions surrounding possibly having another child, Bindi expressed her appreciation for the curiosity but also urged caution in asking such personal questions.

The actress stressed that appearances can be deceiving. She noted that while their family seems perfect, they may face challenges unseen by others. 

Bindi acknowledged the good intentions behind the inquiries about their family but emphasized the sensitivity of the topic for many, especially those who may struggle with fertility.

The couple shared their gratitude for their daughter, Grace, affirming that while she might be their only child, they remain open to the possibility of being blessed with another in the future.
