Bravo viewers have been watching Jax Taylor spiral out of control in season 2 of "The Valley."
In the latest episode of the series, Jax Taylor sent several rage texts to his soon-to-be ex-wife, Brittany Cartwright, while away in rehab. At the time the episode was filmed (summer of 2024), the veteran reality star insisted he was fine. Today, however, Taylor said he always knew "something" was wrong with him.

On his podcast, "In the Mind of Jax Taylor," the "Vanderpump Rules" alum told his guest, Jason Tartick, that although he "never got checked," he knew "something" was "wrong" with him.
He explained that it wasn't until he checked into rehab, which was showcased in episode two of "The Valley," that he understood his problems.
“I'm like, ‘Something is f-cking wrong with me. Something is wrong. I'm flying off the handle. I'm angry. I'm easily triggered," he said.
“I'm happy one minute. I'm sad the next minute. And there's absolutely no reason to be this way because on paper, I have it all. Home, cars, toys, healthy child, healthy wife,” said Taylor, who has a 3-year-old son, Cruz.
Jax Taylor Used Drugs To Turn His Mind Off

Eventually, the "House of Villains" star admitted that his sudden changes in emotion got so bad that he turned to drugs to help him "mask" his problems.
"I used drugs and alcohol to mask all my problems. Validation, insecurity, ego, manipulation, narcissism, all these things that people told me, anger issues ... my family issues," he said.
“I was dealing with my friends, anger, arguments with Brittany. I would say, f-ck that. I'm gonna take drugs for two hours or whatever and turn my mind off. And that's why I turned to alcohol and drugs heavily," he continued.

Taylor's revelation on his podcast isn't the first time the Bravo star has been open about his struggles with drugs, though. In March 2025, ahead of the season two premeire of "The Valley," Taylor admitted he'd struggled with an addiction to cocaine for two decades.
“I am an addict," Taylor said candidly on Bravo's "Hot Mic" show. “I have substance issues—primarily with cocaine," he continued before revealing he only did the illicit drug while drinking alcohol.

In episode 4 of "The Valley," while Taylor was away at a California rehab center for treatment, Cartwright revealed the 45-year-old had been sending her rage texts throughout the day.
“I found out he’s in therapy almost seven hours a day," Cartwright said during the episode. "They take his phone while he’s in therapy, and then he gets 15-minute breaks in between. So, he’s doing therapy, getting his phone, rage texting me, going back to therapy, getting his phone, rage texting me, going back to therapy.”
Producers then flashed several of Taylor's messages on the screen.
“You took my son from me. Disgusting,” Taylor wrote in one message, along with, "You took my job away from me. I've worked so hard for two years for this, and you took it from me."
Taylor also wrote: “I am doing this for my son…my God, your family is the most f-cked up I have ever seen, and they would never do what you did.”
He then sent another text, blaming Cartwright for his rehab visit: “I will never ever forgive you…you destroyed the only thing that I love doing.”

In the "Valley" aftershow, Taylor reflected on the rage texts he sent to Cartwright with his producer and castmates.
"I am addicted to my phone. I wanted to know what's going on," he said. "I have to have control. And I don't know what that is. It's a huge issue. Ego, control, narcissism, manipulation… It's all the same thing."
Later, Taylor explained that he sent Cartwright the slew of aggressive messages because he believed she didn't care about his well-being.
"I just feel like words of affirmation go so far for me," he added. "... I don't need material things. A little note next to the coffee maker … is like a diamond ring for me."
He went on to say that being "out of sight" and "out of mind" crushed his spirit. "If she would've [given] me, at least like two or three days in, 'Hey, we're thinking about you, we'll see you in 30 days,' I would've put that phone away in a New York minute. I would've put that phone in a safe," he said.
