On May 7, the lifestyle brand Funko announced its plans to unveil a new line of pop figures that celebrate women's basketball.
The line will launch on May 14, a few days before the WNBA's regular season begins. According to the press release, the first wave of collectibles will feature superstars, including Wilson, the two-time WNBA champion, Stewart, Reese, and Clark.
“At Funko, we believe fandom has no boundaries and we are incredibly excited about this relationship,” said Cynthia Williams, CEO of Funko. “The recent rapid rise of the WNBA, the power of its players as engaging brand ambassadors, and its passionate fanbase are a testament to the power of sports culture."
She added, "Bringing these trailblazing athletes to our Pop! lineup is not just about collectibles—it’s about celebrating the energy, talent, and influence of women’s basketball.”
Funko Is Excited To Work With The WNBA

For those who may be unfamiliar with Funko, the leading global pop culture company offers a diverse collection of brands, providing consumers with "industry-defining products that span vinyl figures, micro-collectibles, fashion accessories, apparel, plush, action toys," and much more.
The company's collaboration with the WNBA is a major milestone for the brand, which recently dipped into the NBA market with the launch of "NBA Pop!"
Collectibles Are Reaching The NBA, Too!

This move by Funko mirrors a growing trend of recognizing basketball icons through collectibles, as seen recently when Mattel honored NBA legend LeBron James.
As part of their "Kenbassador" line, a new collection designed to honor influential men, the NBA champion received a doll that almost perfectly resembled his 6'9" frame.
A company spokesperson also discussed their venture with the basketball player and revealed their "excitement" about the product.
"Ken is Barbie’s longtime best friend and supporter,” said Krista Berger, Senior Vice President of Barbie. “We are excited to bring fans a new presentation of Ken that celebrates LeBron as a role model, his icon status, lasting impact on culture, and dedication to setting a positive example for the next generation to reach their limitless potential.”
James Is Honored By Mattel's Move

James shared a similar feeling, discussing how meaningful it was to become a "Kenbassador" after aspiring to create a lasting legacy.
"As a young kid, I was fortunate to have role models who not only inspired me but also showed me what’s possible through hard work and dedication,” he said about his new venture.
“Now, as an adult, I understand how vital it is for young people to have positive figures to look up to. That’s why partnering with Barbie to release the LeBron James Kenbassadors doll is such an honor. It’s an opportunity to recognize the powerful impact of role models who instill confidence, inspire dreams, and show kids that they, too, can achieve greatness."
The WNBA Preseason Is Underway
Ahead of the WNBA's regular season opener on May 16, the league's 13 teams have been battling against each other during the preseason matchups.
On Friday, May 2, Reese and the Chicago Sky played in Louisiana at LSU against the Brazilian National Team. Reese led her team to victory, playing just under 17 minutes and scoring 15 points. The walking double-double also grabbed 10 rebounds, recorded two steals, and one assist.
Although her performance against the Minnesota Lynx on May 6 wasn't as strong, Reese still scored nine points and snagged eight rebounds in 19 minutes.
As for the league's three-time MVP, during her game against Paige Bueckers, the Dallas Wings' standout rookie, Wilson had an impressive and dominating showing, scoring 19 points and grabbing seven rebounds. She also had three assists and two blocks.
Wilson and Reese won't face off against each other for the first time in the 2025 season until August 25, when the Aces travel to Wintrust Arena in the Windy City.
