Kevin Garnett found himself in the middle of more personal drama after his girlfriend reportedly called the police during a tense argument late last month.

April's drama is not Garnett's first brush with legal trouble involving a partner. Back in 2023, Necat Akman, who claimed Garnett fathered her child, won a custody battle that ended with a court-ordered child support deal.

With law enforcement stepping in, Kevin Garnett's rocky relationship history is again under the spotlight.

The lovebirds admitted they regretted letting a personal dispute escalate to the point of a police call last weekend. Sources shared that the former athlete tried to de-escalate the situation by leaving and only made physical contact when moving his girlfriend aside as he walked through a doorway.

Officers noted she declined medical attention, and no arrests were made. Around 2 a.m. on April 27, Teare Candelier reportedly dialed 911 to report a domestic argument at their Los Angeles-area home, prompting officers to respond.

TMZ reported that in a joint statement released Sunday, the couple took responsibility for the incident and emphasized that it was a moment that should have stayed private.

"We deeply regret that a personal disagreement escalated and inappropriately involved authorities," they claimed. The statement continued:

"Like most couples, we have disagreements, but our commitment to each other remains strong, and we move forward with renewed respect, understanding, and love."

The Hall Of Famer Previously Faced A Child Support Battle

This latest incident adds to a growing pattern for Garnett, who has faced multiple off-court issues involving women in his life. An example is a custody case in 2023 that confirmed he fathered a child with Necat Akman.

The Blast reported that Garnett formally acknowledged paternity of a young girl named Naya Garnett in court documents. The retired basketballer signed a statement confirming he was the biological father of the child.

Under the terms of the agreement, Naya would remain in New York with her mother, and Akman would have sole legal and physical custody. Garnett was granted visitation rights, with further details to be arranged later.

Legal records also showed that both parties signed a "Confidential Stipulated Judgment of Uniform Parentage — Custody and Support," outlining how custody, financial support, and attorney fees would be handled.

The Podcaster's Baby Mama Revealed He Had Privately Acknowledged Their Daughter

Before any court orders were issued, Garnett had already accepted that he was the father of Naya and his former partner noted he never denied it.

In documents filed in June 2022, Akman stated that both she and Garnett had already signed a voluntary declaration of paternity. Her goal in turning to the court was not to prove paternity, but to secure formal legal protections and financial support for their daughter's future. Akman requested that:

"Garnett provide medical insurance for the minor child, contribute to add-on expenses incurred on behalf of the minor child, including but not limited to uninsured medical expenses, childcare costs relating to her employment, payment of preschool and private school tuition, and extracurricular activities."

Although Akman lives in New York, she filed the petition in Los Angeles, likely because Garnett resides there.

The Former NBA Star's Divorce Battle With Estranged Wife Got Heated Over Legal Fees

Garnett's off-court troubles did not start in recent years. In 2019, the 48-year-old was tangled in a messy legal battle with his then-estranged wife, Brandi Garnett.

Per The Blast, Brandi requested $425,000 from Garnett to cover legal fees as they prepared to go to trial over their divorce. She told the court she needed the funds to allow her attorneys to "conduct discovery and prepare for the first bifurcated trial," which was expected to begin within six months.

At the time, she argued that the money she had access to, half of a $12 million tax refund, was tied up in a dispute, since Garnett claimed full ownership of it. She also clarified that she believed he had more than enough money to help cover her legal costs.

Just one month before Brandi's legal fee request, the court had already ordered Garnett to pay her $100,000 monthly in combined spousal and child support; the former couple shares two children together, Kapri and Kavalli.

Garnett's divorce saga with Brandi escalated when she challenged the terms of their prenuptial agreement and demanded the court combine two major trials in their split.

Brandi reportedly asked the judge to merge the trial over the prenup's validity with the proceedings to divide assets and determine support. She argued that the prenup heavily favored Garnett, allegedly stating she would walk away with "an initial payment of S500,000 or S1 million."

Brandi also pointed to a key clause in the prenup that required Garnett to fund a joint account with $12 million, which she claimed was nearly empty when they separated. She insisted that Garnett violated the agreement by not fulfilling that obligation.

To make matters worse, the prenup reportedly included a clause that would leave Brandi with no spousal support.
