Kate Middleton & Prince William Return To The Beginning Of Their Romance On 14th Wedding Anniversary

Prince William and Kate Middleton are taking a trip down memory lane for this one!

England's future king and queen are waxing stronger in their romance since the world stood still and watched them exchange marital vows 14 years ago.

Prince William and Kate Middleton's milestone comes a year after the future queen announced that she had gone in for treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer.

The royal couple is celebrating their 14th wedding anniversary in Scotland, where their love story began. This year, the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay visited Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, greeting well-wishers who had gathered to see them.

Dressed in coordinated blue button-down shirts and blazers, the couple took part in various community activities. Kate showcased her skills by using a nail gun to help build a sign for a Community Pantry while they also checked out a children's soft play area and interacted with local families.

Later, they planned to visit a local farm to explore sustainable agriculture and hospitality practices. Their Scottish adventure will continue with a trip to ancient woodlands on April 30, where they will engage with the Mull and Iona Ranger Service.

PEOPLE confirmed that the couple will then join local school children for outdoor learning activities. Prior to their arrival, the couple shared a video on social media, expressing their excitement about meeting islanders and celebrating the importance of community.

Talk about core memory, Scotland holds a special significance for Prince William and Princess Kate, as it is where they first met while studying at the University of St. Andrews. 

Their friendship blossomed into romance, which William described as a "good sort of foundation" during their engagement interview in 2010.

The couple married on April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey in London and are now proud parents to three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte,  and Prince Louis.

The couple's trip to Scotland marked their first joint public appearance in several weeks. They had reportedly taken a break from royal duties to spend time with their family during the school holiday leading up to Easter.

Instead of attending the royal family's traditional church gathering in Windsor, they chose to celebrate Easter in Norfolk with Kate's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton.

The year opened on an exciting note for the royal family as The Blast noted that Princess Kate shared some uplifting news about her cancer diagnosis on social media.

The future queen announced that she is now in remission and looking forward to her recovery. After spending most of the previous year away from public engagements, she expressed her gratitude to The Royal Marsden Hospital in London, where she received treatment.

In her heartfelt message, Princess Kate thanked the hospital for the excellent care she received during her illness, highlighting the exceptional support provided to her and her family.

She also extended her appreciation to those who have quietly supported her and Prince William throughout their journey with the undisclosed form of cancer.

Following her recovery, the royal couple were promptly announced as joint patrons of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. Kate made a surprise visit to the hospital on the same day.

In her statement, she expressed her commitment to supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, aiming to improve the experiences of those affected by cancer and enhance patient and family well-being. 

At 43, Princess Kate shared her personal relief at being in remission, acknowledging the challenges of adjusting to life after a cancer diagnosis. In her words:

"As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal."

She expressed her optimism for the year ahead and gratitude for the support she has received throughout her journey.

The princess's 43rd milestone on January 9 almost coincided with her remission announcement, which came five days later. On the special occasion, Prince William shared an emotional tribute on social media, celebrating his wife. 

He praised her remarkable strength and motherly love over the past year, expressing pride from himself and their children, George, Charlotte, and Louis. He concluded his heartfelt message by wishing her a happy birthday and conveying his deep affection by signing off with "W."

The rest of the world joined the prince in the comment section, with over 24k people wishing the Duchess of Rothesay a well-deserved happy birthday. Actress Olivia Munn wrote: "Happiest Birthday with three white heart emojis."

Cancer survivors also appeared in comment to share their stories of triumph and admiration for Kate's admirable resilience throughout her ordeal.
