The event often includes a private garden party and auction, with the possibility of celebrity honorees. The gala serves as a platform to unite community leaders and supporters in a collective effort to make a meaningful impact against Alzheimer's disease.
This outing marked Mellencamp's first formal event since revealing in February that her melanoma had metastasized to her lungs and brain.

"One update I couldn't wait to share! All tumors stage 4 (metastasized melanoma in my brain and lungs) shrunk or disappeared, so I have 6ish more weeks of immunotherapy, and doctors believe I will be healed if everything stays on course," she wrote in the caption.
Maintaining a positive outlook, she recalled her doctor encouraging her confidently, reinforcing her strength with a lighthearted remark about her resilient spirit.
