Bill Maher's newfound support for Donald Trump continues as he slams fellow comedian Larry David's recent comments about the POTUS.
The TV personality did not hold back while criticizing his old friend, calling him out for comparing Trump to the infamous Adolf Hitler. He argued that no matter how one felt about the president, they should never place him on the same table as the Nazi Germany dictator.
Bill Maher used to be one of the biggest Donald Trump critics until he broke bread with the politician. He has since changed his tune, labeling the president "one of the most effective politicians" to the dismay of many.
Bill Maher Slams Larry David For Insensitive Donald Trump Comment

Maher addressed her pal's recent satirical essay on Trump during Thursday's episode of "Piers Morgan Uncensored." He implied he was embarrassed by David's comments, confessing: "This wasn't my favorite moment in our friendship."
The comedian noted he did not want to be involved in any drama; however, he could not stay quiet about David's Hitler comparison. He argued that his friend was wrong for comparing the infamous dictator to Trump, stressing: "The minute you play the Hitler card, you've lost the argument."
"Also, I must say, c'mon man, Hitler, Nazis? Nobody has been harder on and more pressing about Donald Trump than me. I don't need to be lectured on who Donald Trump is," Maher said on the YouTube episode, adding:
"Just the fact that I met him in person didn't change that. And the fact I reported honestly is not a sin either."
The 'Club Random' Host Saw His Pal's Comments As 'Insulting' To Jews
Maher doubled down on David being wrong for comparing Trump to Hitler, noting the Holocaust was not something he should joke about. "To use the Hitler thing, first of all, I think it's kind of insulting to six million dead Jews. That should kind of be in its own place in history," he argued, adding:
"It's an argument you kinda lost. It's not completely logically fair, but Hitler has really kinda gotta stay in his own place. He is the [greatest of all time] of evil, and we're just going to have to, I think, leave it like that."
While Maher focused on criticizing David for his Hitler comparison, his pal did not hold back from slamming his newfound love for Trump. In his essay published in the New York Times, David referenced Maher's dinner date with the president.
What The 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' Star Said About His Pal & Trump

In his opinion piece, David did not directly mention Maher or Trump but hinted at his pal's description of meeting the POTUS in March. "Here I was, prepared to meet Hitler, the one I'd seen and heard — the public Hitler. But this private Hitler was a completely different animal," he wrote.
"And oddly enough, this one seemed more authentic, like this was the real Hitler. The whole thing had my head spinning," David continued. "I'm so thankful I came. Although we disagree on many issues, it doesn't mean that we have to hate each other … I gave him a Nazi salute and walked out into the night."
While David disapproved of his pal's sudden change, Maher refused to back down on his stance about Trump.
The Blast reported that he insisted he wasn't wrong for being honest about the outcome of his dinner meeting with the president. The comedian noted he would take his words no matter how critics felt about him.
The 'Real Time With Bill Maher' Star Defended His Trump Comments

During an appearance on the "2 Angry Men" podcast, Maher stressed that he did nothing wrong during his dinner meeting with Trump. He argued that his principles remained the same throughout their date, claiming he spoke "truth to the power" and told the President things he had probably never heard.
The political commentator noted he could not be blamed for sharing the truth about what happened during his date with Trump and slammed critics' heated reaction to his words. "They wanted to hear that he was the same monster that they see in public, and he wasn't," Maher began, adding:
"I'm proud that I was able to go into the White House and say to the President of the United States, look him in the eye and say, 'You're scaring people. Doesn't bother you that you're scaring so many of your own citizens.'"
Bill Maher Believes He Is A 'Hero' For Facing Donald Trump

Maher noted his stance wouldn't change if given a second chance to dine with Trump, stating he never backed down from having uncomfortable conversations with the POTUS.
He recalled the politician brought up their infamous 2012 beef when the comedian got sued for implying Trump's father was an orangutan.
"When we talked about the orangutan thing, I didn't apologize," Maher revealed, noting he ensured Trump understood his side of the story. He allegedly told him: "I did that because you were making fun and mocking Obama's birth origins, and I thought that was low."
"So I should be a hero for going there and doing those things and saying those things to the President. I'm not the villain here," Maher added. He also bashed Democratic Party's Gretchen Whitmer, wondering if critics expected him to hide behind a binder like she did during an appearance in the Oval Office.
