Pete Davidson Calls Tattoo Removal 'Horrible', Reveals Insane Timeline To Erase 200 Inks

Pete Davidson is getting candid, and a little scorched, about the brutal reality of removing over 200 tattoos from his body.
The "Bupkis" star, who’s famously tatted up tributes to exes like Kim Kardashian and Ariana Grande, first started fading the ink in 2020.
Pete Davidson has since gone through an extensive (and expensive) removal process.
Pete Davidson Gets Brutally Honest About Tattoo Removal

In a new interview with Variety, the 31-year-old comedian didn’t sugarcoat what it’s like to laser off years of impulsive ink.
“I started during COVID in 2020, and it’s gonna take me another 10 years,” he said, calling the process “pretty horrible.”
“It’s like putting your arm on a grill and burning off a layer,” Pete described. “And then you gotta do maintenance and let it heal properly. And it’s pretty tough. It sucks. I’m not gonna lie.”
Pete Davidson Says His Tattoos Remind Him Of Addiction

The "SNL" alum says he’s already zapped away tattoos on his arms, hands, and neck. But his torso and back still have a long way to go. And there’s a very personal reason he’s ready to say goodbye to the body art.
“I used to be a drug addict and I was a sad person, and I felt ugly and that I needed to be covered up,” Davidson admitted. “And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with tattoos, but mine, when I look at them, I remember a sad person that was very unsure.”
He’s now looking for a fresh start, both physically and mentally.
“When I look in the mirror, I don’t want the reminder of, ‘Oh yeah, you were a f-cking drug addict. Like, that’s why you have SpongeBob smoking a joint on your back,’” he shared. “They should have meaning. Not just that I was high watching ‘Game of Thrones.’”
Pete Davidson Reveals Tattoo Removal Marks A New Chapter

A source told People earlier this year that Pete has shelled out $200,000 on the tattoo removal journey.
“He just woke up one day and wanted them gone,” the insider said, adding that the star “has been sober since September” and that “things are going really well for him.”
“Things are going really well for him," the insider added. "Things are heading in the right direction, and he’s receiving excellent reviews for the movie."
Pete's 'Sad Boy' Ink And Brutal Sessions

In recent months, Davidson has been slowly debuting his newly bare skin. He surprised fans with ink-free arms during a return to "Saturday Night Live" last November and later opened up about the removal process on "The Tonight Show" in January.
“It’s horrible,” he told Jimmy Fallon. “They gotta burn off a layer of your skin and then it has to heal for, like, six to eight weeks, and you can't get in the sunlight. And then you gotta do it, like, 12 more times.”
“If it's black and white, it's a little easier. But if it's a color tattoo, it takes forever,” he added.
Davidson also admitted many of his tattoos were the result of impulsive decisions made during dark moments.
“I made a lot of those decisions before rehab, so I have the dumbest tattoos,” he said. “I got a collection of cartoons smoking blunts, like a Muppet smoking a blunt, the Tootsie Pop owl smoking a blunt. I was a sad boy.”

While the removal process may “suck,” Pete’s clean slate is making headlines for all the right reasons, starting with his steamy Valentine’s Day campaign for Reformation.
The "Saturday Night Live" alum stripped down for the stylish shoot, showing off his fresh, ink-free body for the first time since beginning his $200,000 tattoo removal journey. In one photo, he poses shirtless in nothing but cream trousers, flashing his biceps, pecs, and the waistband of his underwear. In another shot? Just briefs and a fitted tee. And yes, he’s still rocking his signature shades.
Then there's the ultimate thirst trap: Pete in a gray crewneck that reads “Official Boyfriend.” Because, of course, he is.
But the look wasn’t just for show. Pete also starred in a cheeky video written and directed by Matthew Frost, where he plays the “perfect boyfriend” who patiently waits as his girlfriend shops, knows the difference between denim fits, and supports her decisions like a total king.
“I’m someone’s boyfriend and I take that seriously,” Pete says in the video, before hilariously flexing textbook “good boyfriend” behavior.
