Ben Affleck Hints At The Real Reason For His Split From Jennifer Lopez After Calling Her 'Spectacular'

Ben Affleck has seemingly shared the biggest hint as to why his marriage to Jennifer Lopez fell through barely a week after he praised her as "spectacular."

Following the dissolution of their marriage, the former couple is said to be using work to get through the heartbreak from their divorce.

While Ben Affleck is hard at work on his film projects, Jennifer Lopez is preparing to go on a summer tour after cancelling her tour in 2024.

Affleck has offered his most significant insight yet into the breakdown of his marriage to Lopez after finalizing their divorce in February.

The Oscar winner made an appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," where he discussed his new film "The Accountant 2" with costar Jon Bernthal.

According to the Daily Mail, Affleck couldn't help dishing out some telling words as he reflected on his character's familial relationship with Bernthal's character.

"The people you love the most drive you the most crazy," he said about their relationship, adding, "And the humor is rooted in that relationship."

The actor's remarks, while they were about his new film, also seem to be directed at Lopez and their relationship, especially after he broke his silence about their divorce.

Lopez and Affleck's relationship seemed strained early on after the 55-year-old singer flaunted their love story in a documentary titled "The Greatest Love Story Never Told."

In one scene, Affleck was visibly worked up as he watched Lopez meltdown over her workload from producing the movie "This Is Me... Now: A Love Story."

He tells her to relax and get comfortable with the filmmaking process, but she isn't able to, leading her to break down in tears over missing an event they were supposed to attend together.

Elsewhere in the interview, Affleck made sure to drive home that he's a "happy" person despite photos showing him always looking glum and uninterested, especially at the height of rumors that his marriage with the "Maid In Manhattan" star had hit the rocks.

Affleck's remarks come a week after he praised Lopez as "spectacular," noting how she has maintained a good relationship with his children: Violet, Fin, and Samuel, even after their split.

"For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them," he told Entertainment Tonight. "I love her kids. They're wonderful. She's an enormously important, tremendous person of a lot of integrity who I adore and am grateful to."

Affleck has also kept close ties with Lopez's kids, Max and Emme, sharing that he brought them to the premiere of his movie as well.

"It's a great night. The kids are here, Jen's kids are here. I'm very, very excited," Affleck told the news outlet. "I'm proud of the movie, I love the movie and I love it when all the kids come out. It's really fun, it's exciting."

He continued, "I'm thrilled that the kids are here with me. The relationships that you can have with children like that, it's the joy of my life. And those kids are amazing, and I'm glad that this is a movie they want to come to."

It comes after Affleck opened up about his split from Lopez during a chat with GQ Magazine, sharing that there was "no scandal" between them.

The pair had been plagued with rumors of marital woes early last year, before Lopez finally filed for divorce in August, citing "irreconcilable differences."

However, Affleck claimed there was "no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue" behind their breakup, even though he wouldn't share details about it because it was "just sort of embarrassing."

"The truth is, when you talk to somebody, 'Hey, what happened?' Well, there is no, 'This is what happened,'" he told the news outlet. "It's just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do."

Meanwhile, reports suggest the exes are focusing on work to pull through the heartbreak of their separation.

The "Let's Get Loud" singer headlined the 2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix over the weekend in Jeddah and has been in New Jersey filming her movie "Office Romance."

On the other hand, Affleck was seen filming his new movie "Animals" in the Los Angeles River on Tuesday.

A source told the Daily Mail that they're keeping their minds off the heartbreak by working even more.

"They are both sad that the marriage did not work out," the insider told the news outlet. "Instead of crying over it, however, they are working their hearts out. They love being busy with solid projects."

"They want more successes, more hit films, more awards," the source added.
