How It All Started

Mariah made her debut in AEW in late 2023 following a successful career in Stardom in Japan. The English beauty was immediately put into a storyline with New Zealander Toni Storm, with Mariah acting as if she were a huge fan of Toni.

In less than a year of being with AEW, Mariah won the 2023 Women’s Owen Hart Cup and turned on “Timeless” Toni after that to set up their All In 2024 in England.

May then stole the championship from Toni at the AEW All In 2024, which made her AEW Women’s World Champion in her home country of England. The rivalry between them went on with Toni getting the title back. Not to mention, the Auckland-born wrestling pro came out victorious over a bloody match at last month’s AEW Revolution.

Is Mariah May The Next WWE Superstar?

According to reports, Mariah’s contract with AEW is expiring in the summer.

“May hasn’t been on television since the Revolution PPV, which was the blow-off of her feud with Toni Storm,” according to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. “I noted many times that I was surprised at doing that match at that time because it was such a hot feud and didn’t need a final blow-off after just three matches. Apparently, May made it clear at that time that she was not signing a new deal, and so they booked it at that time for that reason.”

In a different report by Fightful Select, Mariah “is in her contract year, and expected to get interest from virtually anywhere she could want to go,” adding, “Wrestling Observer had noted that people close to her believe WWE has always been the goal, and people in AEW expected her to go to WWE.“

However, there’s still no official announcement of Mariah signing with WWE.
