Haley Joel Osment has expressed regret for using a racial slur against a police officer during his arrest on April 8.
Osment was arrested after a report of unruly conduct was made against him. Afterward, he was booked for alleged intoxication and possession of a controlled substance.
The child star's arrest added to his recent setbacks as he lost his home in the Los Angeles wildfires in January.
Haley Joel Osment's Apology

Osment is not pleased with how he handled himself after he was arrested by law enforcement earlier this month. The 37-year-old used racial slurs against an officer during his arrest and has expressed his regret for his actions.
In a statement obtained by PEOPLE Magazine, Osment said, "I'm absolutely horrified by my behavior. Had I known I used this disgraceful language in the throes of a blackout, I would have spoken up sooner."
Osment reflected on his recent setbacks and shared how they had affected him. He said, "The past few months of loss and displacement have broken me down to a very low emotional place."
Despite his current emotional state, Osment acknowledged that there was no excuse for his behavior. He said, "But that's no excuse for using this disgusting word."
He continued, "From the bottom of my heart, I apologize to absolutely everyone that this hurts."
Osment added, "What came out of my mouth was nonsensical garbage - I've let the Jewish community down, and it devastates me. I don't ask for anyone's forgiveness, but I promise to atone for my terrible mistake."
How Haley Joel Osment's Arrest Happened

In addition to Osment's statement of apology, the outlet also obtained bodycam footage that showed how Osment's arrest unfolded.
While being placed under arrest, the "Forrest Gump" star repeatedly claimed he was "being attacked."
He also repeatedly said, "I'm an American," when asked for his name. The police searched Osment and found a $20 bill before placing him in a police vehicle.
Afterward, the officer unfolded the $20 bill and found an unidentified substance inside.
It wasn't immediately clear what the substance was, but a police insider told the publication on Wednesday that the "controlled substance" Osment was arrested for "is presumed to be cocaine."
The source added, "We sent it for testing. We will have the results soon."

Footage from the bodycam also showed a witness revealing to the officer that Osment was drinking at a nearby bar before his arrest.
The witness alleged that the "Bogus" actor spilled a drink, which caused the bar's employees to cut him off.
However, he allegedly became "aggravated" and argued with the employees. It was also claimed that Osment tried to get on a ski lift but was stopped by the employees, who called the police.
Meanwhile, a bodycam footage from inside the police vehicle showed Osment saying, "I'm being kidnapped by a f-cking Nazi." Afterward, he used a racial, antisemitic slur against the arresting officer.
Osment Charged

News of Haley Joel Osment's arrest first broke on April 16.
TMZ reported that the actor was arrested at the Mammoth Mountain resort in California at about 2 PM local time after officers responded to a call about a seemingly intoxicated individual.
Initial reports said Osment was arrested for public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance. He spent the night in jail after his arrest.
On April 17, the Mono County district attorney confirmed Osment's arrest and revealed, per Us Weekly, that he was charged with disorderly conduct under the influence of alcohol and possession of cocaine.
Osment will be arranged at the Mammoth Lakes branch of the Mono County Superior Court on July 7.
Osment Loses His House In The Los Angeles Wildfires

One cannot help but feel for Haley Joel Osment as his arrest adds another setback to what has been a difficult year for him.
In January, he was among many of those who lost their home in the Los Angeles wildfires that caused havoc in Southern California.
Osment's parents also lost their home in the fire. The actor plans to rebuild his home as soon as it becomes safe to do so, but is staying with his sister, Emily, in Los Angeles.
In March, he told Us Weekly, "Because I lost my house in the fires, I've been living with her for the past couple of months. So she's been very generous and helping me out there. She's fantastic."
Osment's recent arrest adds to his previous run-ins with the law. In 2018, he was involved in a public verbal scuffle at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas on Super Bowl Sunday.
In 2006, an 18-year-old Osment was charged with misdemeanor drunk driving after crashing his vehicle into a brick pillar while allegedly intoxicated, injuring himself in the process. He was sentenced to three years of probation after pleading no contest to one count of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of marijuana possession.
