Aaron Rodgers has yet to make a decision about his NFL future, and that may not be happening anytime soon.

The NFL star, now a free agent after his run with the New York Jets, revealed on "The Pat McAfee Show" that he is grappling with personal issues in his life that appear to be holding up his big decision.

At the moment, the Pittsburgh Steelers look like the most likely team for Aaron Rodgers to join, as most teams in need of a quarterback have filled the role.

Despite weeks having gone by since Aaron Rodgers was let go by the Jets, the NFL star is yet to decide where he will play next.

Now, the free-agent quarterback has revealed he is holding off on making a decision as he is currently focusing on helping people in his inner circle navigate some "difficult stuff."

Knowing his remarks could be misconstrued, Rodgers clarified that he isn't trying to "string anybody along" or "hold anybody hostage" by delaying his decision.

"I've had constraints in my life right now that warrant my attention," the footballer doubled down, per the New York Post.

He also did not reveal how many offers he has received since becoming a free agent, but declared that nothing is settled yet.

"I'm open to anything and attached to nothing, so retirement could still be a possibility," the NFL star remarked.

Rodgers also broke his silence about his departure from the Jets, revealing he was surprised about how the matter was handled.

According to the Daily Mail, he recalled flying out to meet with the team's showrunners to discuss his future, but the meeting was brief and ended with him getting the boot.

"The confusing thing to me is I went out there, I meet with the coach[Aaron Glenn] we start talking… he runs out of the room. I'm like 'that's strange,'" Rodgers recalled.

"Then he comes back with the GM, and I'm like, 'all right.' So we sit down and I think we're going to have this long conversation, and 20 seconds in and he [Glenn] goes: 'You sure you wanna play football?' And I said 'yes' and he said 'we're going in another direction at quarterback.'"

Reflecting further about the incident, Rodgers said he was "shocked" by how things went down because he made the effort to fly out for the meeting.

"I was shocked because.. I flew halfway across the country, and you could have told me this on the phone," he noted.

"They said, 'We just want to know how you want it released,' 'I said, 'I don't give a sh-t about the message,'" Rodgers added, before revealing why he felt the coach, Glenn, wanted him gone from the team.

While the world thinks Rodgers was let go from the Jets for footballing reasons, the NFL star believes another factor was at play.

According to the 41-year-old, he was fired by Glenn because he said he doesn't "want to be up in front of the room saying something and have guys looking back at you."

However, he didn't specify when the comment was made or the context in which it was said.

Still, despite the nature of how things were handled, Rodgers claimed he was not "upset." He also mentioned that he was "thankful for my time with the Jets."

Rodgers had a two-season stint with the Jets after being traded to them in 2023. In his first year, he made only four plays before suffering an Achilles injury that sidelined him for the rest of the season.

The following year, he returned as the starting quarterback and played all 17 games of the regular season.

Over his time with the Jets, he threw for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

Despite now ranking seventh all-time with 62,952 passing yards and fifth all-time with 503 passing touchdowns, not many teams are actively pursuing Rodgers, as most quarterback-needy franchises have already filled the position.

According to reports, the most likely landing spot for Rodgers appears to be the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have shown interest in the athlete. However, the New Orleans Saints also need a quarterback due to Derek Carr's shoulder injury, which might make it impossible for him to be available for the team's 2025 season.

There is also the possibility of Rodgers retiring, as stated by the four-time NFL Most Valuable Player.
