NBA Star Trevor Ariza's Ex-Wife Counters His Custody Demand With 'Aggression' Claims

Trevor Ariza's custody battle drama may not end anytime soon as his ex-wife levies new allegations against him.

The former professional basketball player has butted heads with his ex, Bree Anderson, since their 2022 split. Their differences kept them from finalizing their divorce for two years before the pair finally settled in January 2024.

Over a year after their divorce agreement, Trevor Ariza and Bree Anderson are back in court to determine the fate of their two children. The NBA star wants full custody of their son and reduced child support fees, while his ex-wife believes he shouldn't have his way.

The issues between Ariza and Anderson resurfaced last month when the former professional athlete pushed to have primary custody of their son Taylor. He also pleaded with the court to reduce his $10,000 monthly child support fees, citing financial constraints.

Anderson recently responded to his filing, slamming his demands as unfair and unnecessary. She claimed Ariza stopped paying his child support dues in April 2024, noting she had to rely on friends and family to cater to her needs and those of her children.

"I am currently enrolled in school and achieving my license in real estate," Anderson added about her situation before blasting Ariza for his alleged "aggression." Although her son has been living with the former athlete for months, the mother of two claimed she feared for the boy's safety, per In Touch.

According to Anderson, Ariza has influenced their son negatively by not encouraging him to spend time with her or anyone in her family.

"[Trevor's] behavior has spiraled out of control, and I am still afraid of him," she revealed. As for the former athlete's alleged "aggression," Anderson cited an instance with their daughter, Taylor.

Anderson accused Ariza of letting his girlfriend violate their daughter's space in August 2024. The alleged incident, per the legal documents, "created an extreme fear when she goes to his home." Based on this claim, Anderson asked for primary custody of their daughter.

She argued that her joint custody arrangement with Ariza should remain for their son. However, Anderson refused to accept his demands for lesser child support fees based on his alleged financial issues. In her words:

"[Trevor] has been traveling to different countries and travels nationally often on what he claims is a drastic financial change. [Trevor] also has multiple businesses and recently, this month, obtained his retirement payout."

Anderson's arguments continued with shots at Ariza for laughing at their divorce agreement and slandering her name on his social media platforms. She doubled down on his alleged aggressions aimed at her and their daughter, claiming:

"[Trevor] has thoroughly disrespected and disregarded the terms of every agreement in our divorce decree and continues to bully myself and my daughter while praising Tristan and attempting to turn him against myself and my family."

Anderson and Ariza both accused each other of physical violence during their divorce proceedings. However, they both vehemently denied the allegations. The Blast covered the former Lakers player's claims against his ex-wife in 2023, reporting he filed a temporary restraining order against her.

In his restraining order filing, Ariza claimed Anderson lost her cool after his new romantic interest called him. "Bree grabbed me by my hair and violently ripped a dreadlock right out of my scalp," he claimed, adding:

"Bree almost entirely ripped a second dreadlock out of my scalp as well. This second dreadlock was left dangling from my scalp by a few hairs."

Ariza claimed she attacked him after nearly causing a road accident in a fit of jealousy. He recalled her attempting to steer the car off the road, noting she pulled the steering wheel with her right hand toward her passenger seat. The result saw their vehicle veering abruptly across two lanes of traffic to the right.

When Ariza filed his motion for full custody of his son, he did so based on arguments about Anderson's behavior. The Blast shared that he accused his ex-wife of being an absentee mom, claiming she failed to fulfill her part of their custody arrangement.

"Other parent has not complied with a court order and does not pick the child up on ordered days," Ariza explained. He noted her absence made him fully responsible for their son's food, shelter, clothing, education, and medical care for over a year now.

Given Anderson's alleged lack of relationship with their son, Ariza argued the boy should be left solely under his care. In their initial divorce agreement, the former couple agreed to joint custody of their children. Ariza consented to paying $10,000 monthly in child support and gave Anderson a one-time payment of $664,000.
