The 40-year-old pop star joined an all-female crew, which included Bezoz's fianceé Lauren Sánchez, Gayle King, film producer Kerianne Flynn, activist and Nobel Peace Prize nominee Amanda Nguyen, and aerospace trailblazer Aisha Bowe, for the 11-minute flight on Monday morning.

After crossing the Kármán Line and experiencing a few minutes of weightlessness, the crew returned safely to Earth.

However, Perry's theatrical return has now set tongues wagging and stirred up social media buzz.

As the "Roar" hitmaker exited the capsule, she paused to hold a daisy to the sky, a sweet tribute to her daughter named after the flower.

Perry then kissed the plant before descending the ladder. Once on the ground, she dropped to her knees and kissed the Earth, flipping her hair in true diva fashion.

The Singer Is Getting Roasted Online For Her Behavior

While some praised Perry's gesture as heartfelt and authentic, others online were quick to label it as excessive and attention-seeking.

"Oh, dramatic. You were there for 20 seconds, miss girl," one user wrote on X. Another said: "All that hype for an ELEVEN-MINUTE flight. I thought she was going for a week or something, considering how much people were freaking out."

A third person noted, "Katy behaving like she's returning after being stuck on another planet and not like she's been in 'space for a whole 2 minutes."

"Dramatic, but glad they all are alive," another individual shared about Perry's return.

Defending the singer, an X user commented, "[People]clowning her as if there wasn't a huge possibility of her dying during this. It's crazy how negative the internet is."

"It's not about me, it's not about singing my songs," she explained. "it's about a collective energy in there. [The trip was] about us and making space for future women and taking up space and belonging."

Before liftoff, Perry gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the Blue Origin capsule.

In a video shared online, the singer offered a glimpse into the snug spacecraft, excitedly panning the camera around the capsule's interior.

Each seat was arranged in a circular layout and clearly marked with the crew members' names. During her training, the "Firework" singer reflected on a personal connection to the spacecraft.

"When I was invited to come on this voyage, I looked up the capsule. On the very front of it is the outline in the shape of a feather and when I saw that it was like a total confirmation because my mom has always called me a feather," she said.

Perry also recalled a moment of awe when she discovered an unexpected second personal connection to the Blue Origin capsule.

"The capsule's name is Tortoise," she shared. "A wave, just the most energetic wave, just shot through my body. And I was like, 'What? This capsule's name is Tortoise?"

She went on to explain: "My mom calls me two nicknames. Feather and Tortoise. What are the chances that I'm going to space on a rocket in a capsule with my symbol, the feather, called Tortoise?"

Perry added: "There are no coincidences, and I'm just so grateful for these confirmations and so grateful that I feel like something bigger than me is steering the ship."
