Now, just days after his body was discovered, heartbreaking new details are coming to light as authorities confirm the actor’s cause of death.

The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of Nicky Katt, whose death has now been confirmed as a suicide.
According to TMZ, the "Dazed and Confused" actor was found dead at his Los Angeles-area apartment on April 8. Law enforcement sources told the outlet that Katt’s body was discovered by his landlord, who found the 54-year-old hanging in his bedroom.
The landlord had previously stopped by five days earlier to remind Katt that his rent was due. When they returned to follow up, the apartment door was open.
Katt, best known for his roles in "Boiler Room," "Planet Terror," and "Boston Public," did not leave a note, and officials believe he had been deceased for more than a day before his body was found.

In the wake of the news, tributes have poured in from those who worked with him over the years.
Filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, who directed Katt in the 2007 cult film "Planet Terror," honored the actor on social media, reflecting on his creativity and unmistakable presence on set.
“He’d come in incredibly prepared for a role with costumes and props. He’d come full of inventive and creative ideas that would make his characters pop off the screen and consistently have an audience howling,” Rodriguez wrote. “He’d deliver lines that would constantly sound as unexpected as an ad lib, yet it was the text. And if he did adlib, it was always gold. Even his physical comedy and timing was truly on another level. Nicky was an absolute joy on and off the camera. A true artist. A friend.”

Katt began his acting career early, appearing as a child actor in a 1980 episode of "Fantasy Island" before landing roles across a wide range of television shows and films. His résumé includes appearances in "Monk," "A Time to Kill," "Sin City," and "The Limey," among many others.
Katt was married to Annie Morse from 1999 to 2001. He had no children.
