Alexa PenaVega Shares Never-Before-Seen Photo From Stillbirth In Heartbreaking Post

One year after the devastating loss of her daughter, Alexa PenaVegais honoring her memory in a deeply personal and emotional way.
Over the weekend, the "Spy Kids" star shared a raw and heartbreaking image on Instagram, capturing the moment she held her stillborn daughter, Indy Rex PenaVega, in the hospital.
In the photo, Alexa PenaVega can be seen tearfully cradling her baby girl, a moment she described as “the most painful” she’s ever experienced.

“This was the most painful moment I have ever experienced,” she wrote in the caption. “I remember it feeling so hard to breathe. Such a deep aching pain… How was this real? It didn’t feel real. Every emotion flooded in at once.”
Alexa, who shares three other children, Ocean, 8, Kingston, 5, and Rio, 3, with her husband, actor and singer Carlos PenaVega, reflected on the mixture of sorrow and spiritual surrender her family experienced in the aftermath of the loss.
“It was all out of our control,” she shared. “We had to give it all over to God. The burden was too heavy for us to carry, so He took the weight off of us and draped us in His peace.”
Alexa PenaVega Says Stillborn Daughter Indy Brought Healing And Restoration

Despite the heartbreak, Alexa said that over the past year, she has witnessed unexpected beauty emerge from the tragedy.
“We watched people heal because of Indy. We watched grief lifted because of Indy. We watched relationships be restored… God gave her life SO MUCH FRUIT … so much meaning and purpose,” she wrote. “Our sweet girl is celebrating with Jesus today."
She added, "And While we still mourn and wish we had her in our arms… we know she is waiting for us in a place that is beyond anything we can imagine. Jeremiah 29:11.”
Alexa And Carlos PenaVega Honor Stillborn Daughter On Her Heavenly Birthday

The "Sleepover "actress also shared a touching black-and-white photo of her three children holding a framed image of baby Indy.
She wrote over the image in her Instagram Stories, “Our forever world changer [white heart emoji] Happy heavenly birthday baby girl.”
Carlos echoed his wife’s sentiments by sharing a similar photo and writing, “Happy heavenly birthday Indy girl. [white heart emoji] Our little world changer. Psalm 34:18.”
Alexa And Carlos PenaVega Reveal Baby Indy Was ‘Born At Rest’ In Devastating Announcement

The PenaVegas first announced the heartbreaking news in April 2024, shortly after Indy’s birth.
“After a beautiful and peaceful delivery our daughter ‘Indy’ was born at rest,” they wrote at the time. “This little girl has already changed our lives in so many ways. She was absolutely beautiful. And looked just like daddy. Dark hair and all.”
In the weeks that followed, Alexa opened up in an emotional video, calling the experience “the most traumatic thing” she and Carlos had ever endured.
“I don’t think I’ve experienced anything quite like this, and I hope to never experience anything like this again,” she said last May, adding that despite the pain, her family had “never been stronger.”
Alexa PenaVega Says ‘It’s Okay To Be Okay’ After Baby Loss

Alexa later explained that it's "okay to be okay" in a lengthy Instagram post.
"I feel like it's really hard for people to see how we are reacting to our loss. Actually, early on when friends were calling to check in on us, and we could finally get on the phone, and we would be okay, it was almost like it wasn't okay that we're doing okay," she said. "And if we said, 'Actually, we're doing great,' there was always the like, 'You're just in shock.' We have so much peace. It hurt, it sucked, it was awful, it was awful, but we're okay."
She added, "It’s okay to be okay after loss. We grieved. We hurt. But we were restored and filled with peace. Indy will always be a part of our lives. Life after Indy will be brighter because she brought us perspective. She brought us closer together. She made us stronger. She helped us grow in areas that needed growth. She was LIGHT in our lives and always will be."
"Don’t get me wrong. What we would give to have her in our arms now," Alexa continued. "But we don’t want to live in her LOSS… we want to live in her LIGHT. God's peace surpasses all understanding."
