Weezer bassist Scott Shriner briefly addressed the shocking incident involving his wife, Jillian Lauren, after she was shot by police and arrested for attempted murder outside their Los Angeles home.

As The Blast reported, Jillian Lauren, a bestselling author known for her memoir "Some Girls," was wounded in the shoulder Wednesday afternoon during a police encounter in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles.

According to the LAPD, Lauren emerged from the couple’s home with a gun during a chaotic police pursuit of a suspect who had fled the scene of a three-car crash on the 134 Freeway.

Authorities say the male suspect and two others abandoned their vehicle and scattered on foot through the residential neighborhood. In a bizarre attempt to blend in, one man reportedly stripped down to his boxer shorts, jumped into a nearby pool, and even watered plants.

As the situation unfolded, Lauren allegedly stepped outside her home with a firearm. Police claim she was ordered multiple times to drop the weapon but instead pointed it at officers, prompting them to open fire.

According to CBS News, Lauren told officers she believed she was defending her property from the suspect running through the neighborhood. Police confirmed she had no involvement in the initial crash but have since recovered a 9mm handgun from her residence as part of their investigation.

A representative for Lauren has not issued any public statements, and it's currently unknown whether she has secured legal representation. She has yet to make an appearance in court.

Lauren and Shriner tied the knot in 2005 and are parents to two children.

“My husband Scott and I had a long and circuitous road to parenting, including the whole painful infertility thing,” the true-crime author recalled on the Motherhood Later blog in 2015. “We eventually found the right path for us and adopted our son [Tariku] from Ethiopia.”

The incident comes just weeks after Lauren shared on Instagram that she was undergoing treatment for cancer.

Posting from her hospital bed on March 4, she wrote, “I’d like to thank the Academy, my amazing hair and makeup team, and the lighting designers here at #glendaleadventisthospital.” With her usual wit, she continued, “Yes, I have a little bit of the C word y’all. I know a lot of us do… I am always so grateful for every second of the compassionate and excellent medical care I receive in my life.” She closed the post by adding, “And let’s all breathe.”

Meanwhile, Shriner appears to be shifting his attention toward music and the band’s upcoming set at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The famed event kicks off this weekend, though it too is facing its own drama.

As The Blast reported, frustrated attendees have taken to social media in droves, labeling this year’s Coachella “the worst in history” and even comparing it to the disastrous Fyre Festival.

Car campers, who arrived early hoping to secure prime camping spots, reported being stuck in traffic for up to 12 hours with no restrooms in sight. On Reddit and X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, festivalgoers described the experience as “chaos,” “bonkers,” and “insane,” with many demanding partial or full refunds.

Coachella’s website advertises car camping as its “most popular overnight option” and encourages guests to “build an oasis” for their crew, with weekend passes starting at $160. But as wait times stretch and frustration mounts, many are questioning whether the festival lives up to its premium reputation.
